Legal online sports betting is expected to launch in Missouri in the fall of 2025 and as an official partner of the Kansas City Chiefs, we are expecting BetMGM Missouri to be a big part of that launch.

When Will Sports Betting Launch in Missouri?

No official launch date has been attached to legal sports betting in Missouri, but Fall 2025 feels like the target.

We had expected it to go live prior to football season in early September, and those who have spoken with SBD Regulatory Expert Robert Linnehan, had expressed that an early summer Missouri launch was possible. A rules rejection in late February, however, looks to have pushed the Missouri sports betting launch into the fall.

What we do know is that there could be up to 21 online sportsbook licenses, so we anticipate BetMGM will be joined by DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, and more. There is also the possibility for up to 19 retail sportsbooks.

Types of Bets Available at BetMGM Missouri

So, what types of sports betting markets can you expect to see at BetMGM Missouri?

• Moneyline: The moneyline bet is the simplest of all, as you’re simply picking the outcome of a game or match straight up. Will the Kansas City Chiefs win? If you think so, pick them on the moneyline. The odds associated with the moneyline will determine your payout. The favorite will have a minus (ex. -120, meaning you’ll need to bet $120 to win $100), while the underdog typically has a plus (ex. +120, meaning a $100 bet will win you $120).
• Spread betting: This is the bet most commonly referenced when someone asks for the game “line.” The Chiefs were a 1.5-point favorite against the Eagles in the Super Bowl, so the spread was 1.5. The favorite is listed as minus the number, while the underdog is plus the number. In order for the favorite to win, they need to cover the spread, or win by more than the number listed.
• Total (Over/Under): If the Kansas City Royals are playing the Minnesota Twins and the total is listed at 8.5, a bet on the Over wins if they combine to score nine or more runs, while the Under wins if they combine for eight or less.
• Parlays: A parlay is a combination of more than one bet, which all have to win in order for your wager to payout. You can parlay the results of multiple games or you can combine multiple bets from a single game to make a same-game parlay (SGP). Parlays make for a bigger payday, but are much harder to win.
• Props: A prop is a bet on a specific action or event happening within a game. For example, you can bet on Xavier Worthy’s receiving yards, or how many field goals Harrison Butker will make.
• Futures: All bets are on something happening in the future, technically, but a futures bet is made on an outcome bigger than a single game. You can place a futures bet on who will win the next Super Bowl, March Madness, or the College Football Playoff. Futures are also available for player awards.
