No one has been hotter lately than Naomi Osaka, who picked up back-to-back Grand Slam championships at the 2018 US Open and 2019 Australian Open. It was quite a feat for a player who was ranked 68th in the world when 2018 began.
Maria Sharapova opened at +1400 despite the fact that she hasn’t won a Grand Slam since 2014 and won for the first – and only – time at Wimbledon in 2004.
