Notes on the MLS Cup odds movement over the course of the season:

• [Dec 2] – We’re down to our final two! The LA Galaxy (-250) return as favorites to the MLS Cup finals, for the first time since their win in 2014. They’ll be facing the seventh-seeded New York Red Bulls (+175) who are in the finals for just the second time and the first since 2008.
• [Nov 12] – Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are out! After a record-setting season, the 2024 Supporters Shield winners have been bounced from the MLS Cup playoffs by Atlanta United. The Five Stripes, who went into Decision Day with +50000 odds to win the cup, are now sitting at just +2500. Miami’s exit also opened the door for both Los Angeles teams, as LAFC (+200) and LA Galaxy (+300) are now the front runners to win the title.
• [Oct 21] – Let’s get this party started! The MLS Cup Playoffs begin today with the East’s 8 v 9 match between Montreal at Atlanta. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Inter Miami (+160) are clear favorites to raise the cup for the first time, followed closely by past winners LA Galaxy (+350), Columbus (+650), and LAFC (+650).
• [Oct 8] – For four teams in the East, there’s still everything to play for on Decision Day next weekend. The Western Conference has its nine playoff teams, but the Eastern Conference still needs its 8th and 9th-place teams to be sorted. DC United and CF Montreal currently occupy those spots, but both could potentially be passed by Philadelphia or Atlanta on the last day of the season.
• [Sep 24] – Teams are starting to fall! First San Jose and now, just days ago, Sporting Kansas City have been eliminated from playoff contention. With only a few days left in the season, Inter Miami (+170) are big favorites to win their first MLS Cup.
• [Jun 18] – After hitting a high of +1200 back in March, LAFC are now rounding in to form. The ’22 champs are winning at a clip of 1.94 PPG are now getting +650 to pick up their second MLS Cup.
• [May 8] – Toronto FC have made a steady climb up the Eastern Conference standings as well as the MLS Cup odds table. After opening the season with odds averaging at +10000, the third-place Reds are now getting +5825 to win capture their second league title.
• [Apr 3] – With six matchdays completed, the LA Galaxy are the biggest climber up the MLS Cup odds table. Originally opening at +5000 last December, Los Galácticos now average at +1225, the second-shortest odds in the Western Conference.
• [Feb 13] – With the kick-off to the regular season just under two weeks away there is no question who the oddsmakers have favored to win the 2024 MLS Cup. Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are +250 odds with the next-closest being Columbus at +800 and LAFC at +850.
