Breanna Stewart has been a standout in the previous two meetings against her former squad.
Now she comes in scorching hot as her New York Liberty (12-4, 6-2 home) host the Seattle Storm (4-13, 2-4 away) in a battle of two WNBA teams trending in opposite directions.
Action gets going Saturday (July 8) at 2pm ET from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. You can watch the game live on ESPN.
Storm vs Liberty Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Seattle Storm | +15 (-110) | +1200 | Ov 167 (-110) |
New York Liberty | -15 (-110) | -2400 | Un 167 (-110) |
New York is a whopping 15-point favorite and -2400 on the moneyline, an implied win probability of 96.00%. The total for this one is set for 167 points.
Stewart is coming off a devastating 43-point, 12-rebound, 6-assist and 2-block effort in a win over the Phoenix Mercury last game, giving New York eight wins in their last 10.
Seattle, meanwhile, was blown out by 20 against the Connecticut Sun, dropping their fourth straight and five of their last seven.

Odds as of July 7 from DraftKings Sportsbook.
Loyd Shines in Dismal Seattle Season
About the only good news coming out of a team that’s 11th in the 12-team WNBA is the play of Jewell Loyd. She’s leading the WNBA in scoring at 25.6 points per game, while shooting a very nice 40.6% from distance.
She tallied 20+ for the 11th time this year in a 93-73 loss to Connecticut, finishing with 22 points, two rebounds and two assists, but she was also a -29 on the court, second only to teammate Ivana Dojkic.

Kia Nurse was the only other Storm player to score in double figures, finishing with 11 points and four assists.
Seattle’s problems have been turnovers of late: they coughed it up 20 times to the Sun, leading to 25 Connecticut points. That, and an offensively slow start — 24 points at halftime — were too much to overcome.
They had just played the Liberty the game previous (July 2), dropping an 81-66 decision. In that one, Seattle scored just 27 first-half points, and also had 20 turnovers, leading to 19 Liberty points.
Liberty Hang on Against Mercury
While it was a win and one of the more exciting finishes of the season, for a team that ranks second in the WNBA Championship odds, New York needs to clean up their effort.
The Liberty watched a 20-point lead evaporate and needed a Stewart bucket with 1:19 left in the game to take the lead for good.
Stewart was helped along by Sabrina Ionescu, who finished with 11 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while Jonquel Jones had 13 points and four rebounds, and Betnijah Laney had 14 points.

The second-leading scorer in the NBA, Stewart has been the leading scorer for New York in both wins over her former squad this season. She had 25 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in an 86-78 win on May 30, and had 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals last game.
On the year, New York is putting up 87.8 points per game (2nd), while leading the W in three-point shooting at a 38.1% clip and assists at 24.4 per game.

Storm vs Liberty Betting Prediction
It’s not a question as to if the Liberty will win, but by how much. Even with the struggles the Storm has had this season, their point differential has been minus-7.4, and they’ve lost by 16 points or more twice on the year.
Storm vs Liberty Head-to-Head Stats
79.0 (9th) | Points Per Game | 87.8 (2nd) |
39.6% (12th) | Field Goal Percentage | 46.0% (2nd) |
36.5% (3rd) | Three-Point Percentage | 38.1% (1st) |
33.6 (10th) | Rebounds | 36.6 (2nd) |
17.1 (12th) | Assists | 24.4 (1st) |
14.5 (8th) | Turnovers | 14.9 (9th) |
-7.4 (11th) | +/- | +6.6 (2nd) |
Conversely, New York has won by 16 points or more three times in their 16 outings this year.
The matchup between the two scoring leaders should be an intriguing one, as Loyd has held her own in this head-to-head, averaging 26.5 points in the two losses.
Oddsmakers have set a good line in this one, and though the Liberty should win, the margin of victory should be right around this number.
- The Pick: Storm +15 (-110)
