Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) takes a shot against the Phoenix Mercury during the first quarter at Footprint Center on June 30, 2024, in Phoenix.
  • The Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces face off at 9:30 p.m. ET Tuesday night from Las Vegas. The Fever are 8-12 on the year while Las Vegas is 10-6 on the season.
  • This matchup pits perhaps the most exciting player in the league against perhaps the most talented. Caitlin Clark has led the Indiana Fever as a rookie, while A’ja Wilson leads the Aces with her 26.9 points per game.

The Indiana Fever travel to Las Vegas to take on A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and the Aces at 9:30 p.m. ET. The Aces and Fever are both coming off wins – Las Vegas has won their last 4 in a row while Indiana is fresh off a win over the Mercury Sunday night.

Tonight’s game pits the best player in the league against perhaps the most exciting, rookie Caitlin Clark. The former Iowa star has been as advertised this season and is only improving as her confidence and feel for the game intensifies – Clark is 3rd across the league in assists and averages just under 17 points per game.

A’ja Wilson needs little introduction. She averages a double-double per game, leading the league in points per game (26.9) and 2nd in the league in rebounds per game (11.1).

Indiana Fever vs. Las Vegas Aces Prediction, Picks

The Fever have absolutely improved since the start of the season, but they’re a long ways off from competing with the Aces for now. If they do want to win, it has to start with suppressing A’ja Wilson down low.

The Fever simply don’t have anyone that can slow Wilson in this game. Aaliyah Boston, who took the torch from Wilson at South Carolina, is their best chance, but she’s struggled in this role so far this season.

Option No. 2 comes in the form of a pure masterclass from Caitlin Clark (or anybody to match Wilson, Kelsey Plum or Jackie Young). As you’ll read about later, Clark struggled against Las Vegas in their first outing of the year, and Indiana will need a much bigger game out of her Tuesday night. For what it’s worth, I believe the Fever will get a bigger game out of Clark, and having played Las Vegas before should level the playing field.

I take the Fever to cover, but lose nonetheless.

Best Fever vs. Sky Player Props for July 2

Player Props (Fever vs. Sky) Odds
Caitlin Clark under 16.5 Points -115
Caitlin Clark over 7.5 Assists +120
A’ja Wilson over 27.5 Points -105

Odds above via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Clark struggled heavily in her last outing against the Aces, scoring just 8 points but dishing out 7 assists despite playing just 29 minutes. Clark has been averaging over 35 minutes per game the past few weeks and this assist number seems almost too low for one of the best passers in the league. As for points, Clark has been hovering right around 16 for the past few weeks, but she’s been under in 3 of her last 4. The Aces are a strong defensive team, so I lean the under here.

A’ja Wilson is the best women’s basketball player in the league, sitting at No. 1 in points per game and No. 2 in rebounds per game. She dropped 29 in her last outing against Indiana in 31 minutes of play. The Fever are a poor defensive team already, and they simply don’t have anyone that can guard her. If she plays full minutes tonight, she’s likely to be over this total.
