Big moves in the Buffalo Bills locker room as the team announced that Vince Young is not going to be the backup quarterback for the team; instead they will bring ex Seahawks Tarvaris Jackson to be second in charge after Ryan Fitzpatrick.
“I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season”, wrote Young on his Twitter.
Young completed 12 of 26 passes against the Steelers on Saturday, for 103 yards with no touchdowns and two picks. The Bills were Young’s third team on his career and second in less than two years (Titans, Eagles & Bills).
“I’m really pleased with how much he studied and how he has slowly gotten better and better,” Lee had said. “Is he ready for the season? Not yet, but he’s getting better every day”, quarterbacks coach David Lee mentioned just a week ago.
With Young gone, the Bills traded for QB Tarvaris Jackson who has a decent year in 2011. Jackson will fight with Brad Smith for the backup quarterback position; assuming Ryan Fitzpatrick job is safe after the six-year, $59 million extension Fitz took last season.
The Bills (0-3) are preparing to complete their preseason schedule at Detroit on Thursday, when Jackson will have an opportunity to play.
Jackson signed a two-year contract with the Seahawks last year. He had career numbers in completions (271), attempts (450), 3,091 yards passing with 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
