[10] Andrey Rublev vs [3] Daniil Medvedev
The 2019 US Open runner up is making an impressive run yet again this year. Medvedev has yet to drop a set this tournament, most recently beating Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 6-1, 6-0 on Monday. Not much to report on his fourth round matchup, as Medvedev was dominant from start to finish, winning 73% of his second return points.
Collectively Medvedev has spent just under eight hours on the court through four matches at the US Open this year. He has yet to play a seeded player and be tested at the US Open. That will come in his quarterfinal match against fellow Russian Andrey Rublev.

Rublev has had a relatively similar tournament to Medvedev. He hadn’t dropped a set through three matches but found himself down 0-1 at the beginning of his fourth round match against Matteo Berrettini. Despite losing the first set, Rublev was able to reset and control the rest of the match. He went on to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
A backhand down the line to win it 💪

This will be the third time the two countrymen have seen each other. Medvedev has won both previous matches that happened in 2019. Medvedev is looking to repeat his impressive showing at last year’s tournament, and with none of the Big Three in the tournament, he has a legitimate chance to win. He’s been stronger than ever from the baseline, but Rublev has had a wicked forehand. This will most likely be the match of the day, looking to go the distance, expect five sets.
Best Bet: Medvedev (-335), Over 4.5 Sets (+275)
[21] Alex de Minaur vs [2] Dominic Thiem
Alex de Minaur is considered an unexpected player in the quarterfinals of this year’s US Open, making his first Grand Slam quarterfinals appearance. He’s not only played impressive tennis this tournament, but he’s been able to benefit from higher seeds losing early. His last round performance against Vasek Pospisil challenged him in every way, having to find a way come back in the first set, and ultimately win 7(8)-6(6), 6-3, 6-2.

Thiem has completely redeemed himself at the US Open after an early exit at the Western and Southern Open. Leading up to his quarterfinal match, he’s only dropped one set that came in the third round. In the round of 16, he faced Felix Auger Aliassime, and after a first set battle, won 7(6)-6(4), 6-1, 6-1. He controlled the offense with his very powerful forehand, but also showed no weakness in his defensive game.
Cleannnnn one-handed backhand down the line to win it.

Thiem has won both previous matches against de Minaur, with their most recent happening in 2018. Their match came at the beginning of the 2017 US Open where Thiem won in straight sets. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out. Thiem is the favorite and should win, but it will be no easy feat. If de Minaur is able to get inside Thiem’s head with his defensive play, he’ll give himself a chance to win. Ultimately this won’t be a straight set win, most likely going four sets.
Best Bet: Thiem (-500), Over 3.5 Sets (-124)
