Djokovic Makes it Through to the Semis

After a couple strong early round win, Djokovic didn’t have has smooth of a win over his quarterfinal opponent Karen Khachanov, winning 6-4, 6-3.

The Serb came out strong to a 3-0, but Khachanov managed to catch up quickly. Djokovic then managed to win the first sets and once against start strong in the second. He broke the Russian at 3-1, which looked to solidify the win for her. And in Djokovic fashion, the 35-year old won the match with an ace.

Medvedev’s 40th Tour-Level Win

2022 has been a year for Medvedev. With his win over Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarterfinals of the Astana Open, the 26-year old earned his 40th win of the season.

It was actually Bautista Agut who held the head-to-head edge against Medvedev heading into that match 4-1. But the match was all Medvedev from the start. Bautista Agut couldn’t gain any momentum, and Medvedev went onto win 6-1, 6-1.

He’ll now take on a very familiar opponent in Djokovic. Medvedev will look to gain one match closer to evening out their head-to-head.

Despite having played each other a total of 10 times, this will actually be their first meeting of 2022.
