French Open Women’s Singles: The Field Favored at -150 Odds Over Halep/Bertens/Osaka/Williams

- BookMaker is offering a trio of prop wagers on women’s singles action at the 2019 French Open
- Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka are both pitted against the field in separate props
- Osaka, Williams, Kim Bertens and Simona Halep are grouped against the field in a third prop
When it comes to women’s singles play at the French Open, variety has proven to be the spice of the competition in recent years. Five different women have seen their name inscribed on the champions trophy at Roland-Garros over the past five years.

There have been 11 different winners over the past 12 years and no player has captured consecutive titles since Justin Henin-Hardenne won three in a row from 2005-07.
Taking all of this into consideration, it certainly makes the field option an intriguing play in the three prop wagers being offered on the women’s singles competition by BookMaker.

Does Williams Still Have What it Takes?
American Serena Williams is the only women to win two French Open titles in the last 12 years. She was most recently champion in 2015. In 2016, she lost to Garbine Muguruza in the final.
Since then, the potholes in the road for Williams, 37, have been many. In 2017, Williams took the year off to have a baby.
She made her return to Grand Slam tennis at last year’s French Open. Williams was forced to withdraw prior to her fourth-round match against Maria Sharapova due to a pectoral muscle injury. That halted her streak of 10 consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals.

This year has been one to forget for the 23-time Grand Slam winner. Left knee pain forced her withdrawal from last week’s Italian Open. She’d taken a month off earlier in the year, also caused by knee issues.
Williams has managed to complete just eight matches all season. She’s one Grand Slam title away from tying Margaret Court’s record. It won’t come at Roland-Garros.

French Open Next Step For Osaka?
Japan’s Osaka is the world’s no. 1 player. She’s the top seed in the French Open. She’s won the last two Grand Slam Tournaments, the US and Australian Opens.
Is the stage set for her to add a third slam to her crown?
The French Open has not been kind to Osaka. She’s never advanced beyond the third round.
The French Open has not been kind to Osaka. She’s never advanced beyond the third round. Her 57% winning rate at Roland-Garros is her worst among any of the four Grand Slam Events.
I’ve never attempted this before in a match and I’m really proud of how it turned out lol https://t.co/3busZel1dA

Her record on clay surfaces this season is a decent 8-3, but Osaka didn’t make it to the final in any of her three clay-court tournaments.
She’s got much to prove as a clay-court player.

French Open Finicky to Favorites
Last year, defending French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko lost in the first round. In 2017, not one of the eight quarterfinalists had ever won a Grand Slam tournament before. That hadn’t happened at a Grand Slam event since the 1979 Australian Open.
What we’re trying to tell you is that weird things unfold on the women’s side of the tournament on the clay at Roland-Garros. Expect the unexpected.

Since 2008, only three no. 1 seeds have won. Ostapenko was champ as an unseeded player. In 2010, Francesca Schaivone won as the no. 17 seed.
At Roland-Garros, playing the field when it comes to the women is always a shrewd move.
