- Oddsmakers list Novak Djokovic as overwhelming chalk to defeat Roberto Bautista Agut in the Wimbledon semis (Jul. 12)
- Djokovic has won 31 of his last 32 Grand Slam matches and is the defending Wimbledon champion
- But the “Joker” has lost two straight to RBA
Someone suggested that Novak Djokovic is an android designed to play perfect tennis but subject to occasional programming glitches. Unless one of those glitches in his system pops up Friday, the Serbian star is expected to move onto the 2019 Wimbledon final with ease.
In the updated Wimbledon odds, oddsmakers have established top-seeded Djokovic as an overwhelming -1044 favorite to topple Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in Friday’s semifinal match (Jul. 12th).
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Novak Djokovic Wimbledon Semifinal Odds
Player | Moneyline | Spread | Total Odds |
---|---|---|---|

Novak Djokovic | -1044 | -7 (-118) | U 32.5 (-110) |
*All odds taken 07/10/19
Bautista Agut is seeded 23rd and ranked #22 in the ATP world rankings. That means if Djokovic is successful at defeating him, he’ll have reached the finals at Wimbledon without facing any of the world’s top-20 players.
Djokovic On Point
Djokovic got off to a slow start in his quarterfinal match against Belgium’s David Goffin, trailing 4-3 in the first set. Then he got after it.
Winning 6-4, 6-0, 6-2, Djokovic won 10 games in a row at one point in the match. Not 10 points in a row – 10 games in a row. He won 88 percent of his first-service points over the final two sets.

Djokovic is through to the Wimbledon semifinals for the ninth time. The defending champ will be seeking his fifth finals appearance. The six games he dropped against Goffin were the fewest he’s ever lost in a Grand Slam quarter-final that was played to completion.
The Joker has laughed his way to victory in 31 of his last 32 Grand Slam matches, while capturing three of the last four Grand Slam titles.
The fewest games conceded by @DjokerNole in a completed Grand Slam quarter-final. 🔥

He’s now 70-10 all-time at Wimbledon, joining Roger Federer, Boris Becker and Jimmy Connors as the only male players to win 70 matches at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club.
Agut Won’t Be A Pushover
Bautista Agut has faced Djokovic twice this year and won both matches – at the Miami Masters and in Doha. Overall, Djokovic holds a 7-3 advantage against the Spaniard. This will be their first ever meeting on grass.
Roberto Bautista Agut was supposed to be in Ibiza for his bachelor party. Six of his friends are already there.
Instead, he's in London about to play Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon semifinal.

Until his four-set semifinal win over Argentina’s Guido Pella, Agut had not dropped a set in the tournament. His previous best showings at Wimbledon were fourth-round appearances in 2015 and 2017.
Novak Is No Joke
Agut’s flat groundstrokes suit the grass-court game well, but he also tends to play a more defensive game. Playing behind the baseline against Djokovic on grass is an invitation to your own demise.
That game-plan will offer the chance for Djokovic to overpower Agut with his own powerful and precise groundstrokes. An above-average first serve, which has steadily improved over the years, will put Agut on the back heel.
Two of Agut’s three wins against Djokovic have come in semifinal matches, though none were in Grand Slams. The Joker plays at a different level in these tournaments. He knows what Agut is capable of and won’t take him lightly.
Pick: Djokovic (-1044)
