Rublev Continues to Roll
The 24-year old has had a strong tournament this year, having lost only four sets over the course of his four matches. He ended Cameron Norrie’s run at the US Open when he defeated the last Brit competing 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, in just under two and a half hours.
Rublev controlled the match from the start, but Norrie did make his life a bit easier. The Brit made error after error, rewarding Rublev with many points he didn’t have to do much for.
This match was affected by rain, and after a short break play continued, which both players commented on afterwards.
Rublev will know take on Tiafoe, who’s sure to be coming into the match with a ton of momentum, given his round of 16 match.
Tiafoe Defeats Rafael Nadal
The American is coming off a match of a lifetime, that saw him defeat Nadal in four sets. The 24-year old ended Nadal’s 22-match Grand Slam winning streak by winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, to earn a spot in his second major quarterfinal.
It took about three and a half hours, Tiafoe rifled off 18 aces, to just four double faults, while securing a 76 win percentage on his first serve. But Nadal is never quite out of it. The Spaniard looked like he was going to come back after going down two sets to one, when he came out strong in the fourth set.

Ultimately, Tiafoe had built to strong of a lead for Nadal to build a comeback, and he became the next day’s headline, defeating one of the greats.
Second Meeting of 2022
This will be the third meeting between Rublev and Tiafoe, and already their second meeting of 2022. The two first played each other this time last year at the US Open, where Tiafoe won in five sets. Their most recent match saw Rublev won in straight sets, evening out their head-to-head to 1-1.
Both matches have been played on a hard court surface.

Rublev vs Tiafoe Pick
This match could go either way, and the odds show us that. Both players will rely on their serves, and strong forehands. This will be a match with a lot of power from both sides.
Tiafoe has arguably been a bit more consistent as of late, and specifically during the Open. But instead of focusing on who’s going to win, let’s focus on how long it will take for either player to win.
