Tottenham Hotspur Now 5-1 Odds to Win Premier League Title at Top of the Table

- After nine Premier League matches, defending champions Liverpool are deadlocked with Tottenham at the top of the table, with goal differential in favor of Spurs
- Tottenham have cut their odds to win the title from +833 down to +500, making Mourinho and company a solid choice to lift the trophy
- However, Liverpool are still the heavy favorites to go back-to-back with odds of +130.
This Premier League season is like no other in history. With new, emerging teams like Everton, Southampton and Aston Villa at the forefront, competition is better than ever. The top teams in the league are being forced to play multiple games a week in various competitions, allowing injuries to run rampant, and giving smaller sides a fighting chance.
Liverpool has had to deal with this issue probably more than anyone. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez look to be done for the year, while Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also sit out due to injury. COVID-19 has also struck their squad, making this title defense one for the ages, because if they do go back-to-back it will be without some of their best players. Buckle up, because navigating this year’s Premier League odds is a tricky decision.

A Case for Tottenham Hotspur
Jose Mourinho once said his greatest managerial accomplishment was taking Manchester United to second place in the Premier League. Put it this way, if Jose managed to win a title with Spurs, United would be moving a spot down that list. This Tottenham team are nowhere near the likes of Liverpool or Manchester City on paper, even Chelsea are a notch above them. But, someway, somehow, they are level with Liverpool in first place. The more impressive feat? Spurs have only conceded nine times this year, which is the best mark in the Premier League.

They have moved on from their deadweight and Spurs look like a side with new life. Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gareth Bale have added much-needed depth but the question is, can they stay consistent? Harry Kane sure can as he has started off another blistering campaign with 24 goal contributions in only 15 appearances across multiple competitions.
However, we know this Tottenham side all too well. They are bound to collapse and with a condensed schedule of Europa League matches, it will not be pretty when it happens. Furthermore, if Kane were to snag an injury, their Premier League hopes would be over.
Can Liverpool Win the Premier League Without Van Dijk?
Liverpool are the clear favorites to win the Premier League once again, by quite a margin. They have been hit by the injury bug early and after a 7-2 thumping at the hands of Aston Villa, many questioned if they were up to the task.
But, Jurgen Klopp got a response out of his title-winning side. Since that match, Liverpool have only dropped points twice in two draws against Manchester City and Everton. Meanwhile, they took down the likes of Ajax, Atalanta, Leicester, and Sheffield just to name a few.
Eight games unbeaten for Liverpool since the loss at Aston Villa.

It is cliche, but this Liverpool side are mentality monsters and they do not know when to throw in the towel. They have the odds stacked against them, especially with an injury to Virgil van Dijk that will keep him out until next year. But Klopp’s next man up philosophy was proven just this weekend. Joel Matip and Fabinho stepped into the team against a tough player in Jamie Vardy and neither put a foot wrong against him.

Nonetheless, there are other suitors to win the Premier League in Chelsea and Manchester City. Pep and City look to be hitting a rut and will need a big transfer window to revamp this team for the future. While Chelsea are just coming off their big window, it will take them a season or two before they fully hit their stride.
Premier League Best Bet
All in all, I think this bet is a safe one if you put your money on the Reds of Liverpool. Consistency is their game, and to think that thrashing they put on Leicester was without five of their regular starters and Thiago is frightening. Expect them to have another exciting season and inevitably lift the Premier League title again.
My Pick: Liverpool (+130)
