League leaders, Paris Saint-Germain, will try to reverse their mediocre form this Sunday against third-placed, Marseille. Of course, Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille, is one of Ligue 1’s fiercest rivalries. Over their last seven matches in all competitions, a staggering eight red cards have been handed out.
We all remember “The Battle of Paris” in 2020, which featured nineteen total cards, a full-scale brawl, and numerous suspensions. Also, that match represents Marseille’s only victory in the last 25 editions of Le Classique.
But, now might be a better time than ever before to square off with Les Parisiens, as they try to bounce back from three consecutive draws. Christophe Galtier’s side were frustrated twice by Benfica in the Champions League, and were held to a clean sheet against 14th-place Reims last weekend.

Lionel Messi was back in full training at the end of the week, which does provide Paris with a boost. However, the absences of Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes and Sergio Ramos will have Marseille’s attack licking their lips.
Nonetheless, PSG are still the heavy moneyline favorites with odds of -275. Conversely, Marseille are the distant underdogs with odds of +700. If you favor Les Phocéens, you can get good value by betting on them to cover the +1.5 spread, with odds of -125. This play has hit in four of their last five head-to-head contests.

While this is too juicy for me, I am leaning on a both teams to score play instead. This has odds of -135, and is quite likely considering Marseille have scored in their last five outings. Given Galtier’s defensive injuries, it would be naïve to think Paris Saint-Germain can make it out of this match with a clean sheet.

Sanchez to Score Odds
Another play that coincides with this is Alexis Sanchez to score anytime, with odds of +360. In terms of value, this is one of the best plays on the board. The Chilean has scored three goals in his last four outings for club and country, which makes this a quality, half-unit bet.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille Prediction
Overall, I favor Marseille to keep this match within an arm’s reach. This is not the type of fixture where Paris Saint-Germain can run away with it at home. Igor Tudor’s defense is far too organized to let Mbappe, Neymar and Messi run totally rampant.
Moreover, Paris have not been at the races in terms of creativity and scoring prowess lately. In their last seven matches, they have only won by a multi-goal margin once. Over the same span, they were only expected to eclipse 1.5 goals on two separate occasions, which is so foreign for this side. When you consider the unhappiness of Kylian Mbappe, as transfer rumors swirl around the Parc des Princes, it is not hard to foresee another frustrating result.

Marseille will play to their strengths, slow the game down and aggravate their opponents. As a result, I am riding with Marseille to cover the +1.5 spread with odds of -125.
