Newcastle vs Liverpool Preview
It took half a season to have an effect, but the Saudi takeover of Newcastle is now in full swing and the multi-millions already spent have produced a team that’s now in the hunt in the Premier League odds for a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League. In addition to currently being fourth in the Premier League, Eddie Howe’s men also have upcoming an EPL Cup Final against Manchester United on February 26.
Ironically, some of the heroes of this Newcastle team are players who were there before the revolution, like Joelinton and Miguel Almirón, but another big spending spree no doubt awaits in the summer that will continue the club’s meteoric but unsurprising rise.
Eddie Howe on the Magpies' home form:
"It's been pivotal. We've enjoyed playing at home. I think, lately, we've been a bit frustrated as we've want more goals and clear cut chances. Teams have defended well against us with a clear plan and it's up to us to find solutions." pic.twitter.com/gv2hzI45cO

The Toon Are Flying but Two Without a Win
In the here and now, despite losing just a single EPL game all season, the Toon have gone two games without a win – drawing at home against West Ham and away at Bournemouth – and are in need of a win to regain some momentum. As a result, a noisy and passionate St James’ Park awaits Jurgen Klopp’s men.
With their EFL Cup final just one week away, this will be a chance for Howe’s players to earn themselves a place in the Wembley showpiece, so we can expect a high-tempo, high-energy performance from the Toon as we analyze our Newcastle vs Liverpool prediction.
Massive Merseyside Derby Win for Liverpool
Liverpool’s season has been riddled with inconsistency and prior to Monday night’s win over Everton, they had been on a horrible run, which included away defeats at Brighton, Wolves, and Brentford. They have now dropped to 9th in the table and are currently nine points adrift of the Champions League places.
But the 3-0 win in the Merseyside Derby has lifted spirits at Anfield, not only because of the emphatic scoreline but also because of the performance level. Jurgen Klopp described it as a return to the type of football that has brought them so much success over recent years and will demand the same at St James’ Park.

Reds Back in the Game?
In addition to them being buoyed by the win over Everton, Liverpool also welcomed Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk, and Roberto Firmino back into their matchday squad on Monday – a massive fillip for them ahead of the run-in.
But this remains a huge game for Klopp’s men as it could determine their direction of travel for the remainder of the campaign. Another win and the fight is on for fourth spot but defeat will make it a very difficult road to Champions League soccer next season.

Newcastle vs Liverpool Prediction
St James’ Park has been a fortress this season with the Toon looking unbeatable on their own turf – even against the elite teams – but among those games have been a few too many draws. With Klopp not wanting the Reds to lose momentum after Monday’s win, the value here is definitely with the draw.
