LA had a tough affair in the semifinals with their city rivals the Galaxy, running out as 3-2 winners thanks to a last-gasp goal from Cristian Arango in the 93rd minute of injury time. As for Austin, they also beat a familiar foe in FC Dallas, 2-1 last Sunday.

LAFC vs Austin FC Betting Analysis
LAFC won the Supporters’ Shield during the regular season, which is awarded to the best team in the entire MLS. Steve Cherundolo’s men have fully lived up to expectations in the playoffs as title contenders, too. The Black and Gold earned a bye into the West Semifinals where they battled it out with the Galaxy, with this fixture truly going down to the wire.

All the drama happened in the last 15 minutes, with the two clubs exchanging blows. Tied 1-1, Denis Bouanga bagged what he thought would be an 80th-minute winner before LAFC’s rivals equalized just five minutes later. Then in the third minute of injury time, Arango banged in a rebound off a corner to seal the deal. Heading into Sunday’s encounter, Gareth Bale is the only notable absence. He’s listed as questionable due to a knee injury.

It’s truly remarkable that Austin FC is even at this point in just their second campaign as an MLS side. They finished as runners-up to LAFC with 56 points in 34 games, making their presence felt as one of the top clubs in the league. Like their counterparts on Sunday, Austin earned a bye to the last round, taking out Dallas.

Josh Wolff’s group jumped out to an early two-goal lead within the first 30 minutes, with frontman Moussa Djitte and Sebastian Driussi producing the goods. Driussi was easily Austin’s best attacker this term, netting 25 times and providing five assists in 36 outings. The Oaks possess an impressive track record against LAFC in 2022 and will be oozing with confidence here.

LAFC vs Austin FC Prediction
The playoffs are a whole different beast and LAFC clearly has a lot more experience than Austin. But, in my opinion, you can’t ignore their solid play against Cherundolo’s side during the campaign. I’m taking the underdog to get it done. Also, given the vulnerability at the back with both sides and the free-scoring ways of these respective attacks, the over is worth a bet as well.
Pick: Austin (+450), Over 3.5 Goals (+107)
