It’s Ecuador vs Senegal on Tuesday, November 29 in the final round of group-stage fixtures in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This Group A game kicks off in the Khalifa International Stadium at 10am ET.
Ecuador are second in Group A, but only on goal difference, with Senegal just a point behind them in third. With the leaders, the Netherlands, playing Qatar in the other game, the winner here will most likely join the Dutch in the knockout phase.
We preview Ecuador vs Senegal, look at the World Cup odds, and offer some analysis, team news, and picks below.

Over/Under and Spread
DraftKings are, again, not anticipating lots of goals with over 2.5 goals listed at +130, compared to the under which is pitched less generously at -160. The tentative approach often prevalent in the opening games of tournaments tends to be less so from Matchday 2 onwards, so the ‘over’ bet is worth considering.
Ecuador vs Senegal Preview
Ecuador’s fine start to the tournament has taken them to within touching distance of the knockout phase. They are currently in second place, but only on goal difference, and even a draw here would probably guarantee them a place in the last 16.
Manager Gustavo Alfaro has put together a team that has attacked with fluency and has defended solidly, with the former being sufficient to see them home to a 3-1 win against the hosts Qatar in the opening game, and the latter helping them to an outstanding 1-1 against the highly-rated Dutch.

Injury Worry over Valencia
On a slightly more negative note, Ecuador’s leading scorer, Enner Valencia – who scored twice against Qatar and the equalizer against the Netherlands – was taken off injured in their second game and is considered very doubtful for this one.
But, even without him, Ecuador’s fate is still very much in their own hands and there is a scenario – if Qatar take points off the Dutch – where a win could see them win the group.

Senegal Eyeing a Knockout Place
Senegal, like Ecuador, will also fancy their chances of making it to the last 16. While they were disappointed to lose to the Netherlands in their opener, their impressive 3-1 win over Qatar on Matchday 2 has given them a good chance of making it to a World Cup knockout phase for only the second time.
And even in defeat against the Netherlands, they were quietly impressive and only lost via two very late goals – scored in the 84th and 99th minutes.

Only a Win Will Do for Senegal
The one big downside for the Senegalese is that they have had to do it all without the goalscoring brilliance of the injured Sadio Mane – something that may come back to bite them if they make it to the latter stages of the tournament – but so far Dia and Diedhiou have done a great job in filling the goalscoring void.
Unlike Ecuador, Senegal cannot afford to draw this one and, realistically, only a win will be enough to see them through. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Ecuador vs Senegal Prediction
With so much at stake, this will be a game full of nerves and tension, and the fact a draw will be enough for Ecuador may be a crucial factor. Their well-organized defense will be tested by Senegal but I can see them having enough to stay solid and earn them the point that they need.
Pick: Ecuador and Senegal to draw (+225)Â
