  • Sportsbooks havereleased props for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar
  • Will we see teams like USA, Canada or Italy in 2022 after all failed to qualify for Russia?
  • How hot will it be in Qatar when the final match kicks off?

We’re now just under four years away from World Cup 2022 in Qatar, and sportsbooks have released a host of props on the next tournament, which you can find below.

France is still viewed as the favorite in odds to win the 2022 World Cup, but we’ll be diving much deeper into the tournament than that.

Odds of a World Cup Rematch of 2018 Final

Result Odds
Yes +2500
No -5000

*All odds taken 12/23

A rematch between France and Croatia in 2022 doesn’t look like a popular bet with the bookies, and for good reason.

In 21 World Cups, only once have two finalists met again four years later. That came in World Cups 1986 with Argentina defeating Germany and 1990 with Germany getting revenge on the Argentines.

Also consider Croatia are not a perennial power in world soccer and it seems even less likely we’ll see a rematch in Qatar.

Pick: NO -5000

2018 Quarter-Finalists Make 2022 World Cup Quarter-Final?

Result Odds
Yes +5000
No -10000

So this is basically akin to stringing together an eight-team parlay, but in this case, you’re doing it four years out.

Despite the heavy juice, the only way to bet this would be the NO. 2018’s quarter-finalists included Uruguay, France, Brazil, Belgium, Sweden, England, Russia and Croatia.

Uruguay’s attacking options will likely look much different, with star strikers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suárez being in their mid-30s by that time.

You also have the likes Sweden, Russia and Croatia who overachieved this year. Add to that the likes of Spain and Argentina, who failed to make the quarter-finals and who’ll be gunning for a better result in 2022.

Pick: NO -10000

Odds Harry Kane Wins 2022 Golden Boot?

Result Odds
Yes +1000

While no player has ever won back-to-back Golden Boots, a small stake on the English captain could be worth a bet.

Kane will still be under 30 when Qatar rolls around, and is part of an improving English side. The current makeup of the squad sees him as the main strike option and he takes penalties, which we saw can make a huge difference.

Pick: YES +1000

Odds Team USA Qualifies For World Cup 2022?

Result Odds
Yes -500
No +300

Failing to qualify for Russia was a massive disappointment and step back for USMNT.

Changes had to be made and the US Soccer Federation created a new position by hiring former national team midfielder Earnie Stewart as the team’s general manager in June.

Gregg Berhalter of MLS’ Columbus Crew was then named head coach on December 2. Since 2013 Berhalter led the Crew to the playoffs four times and reached MLS Cup Final once.

Any improvement in CONCACAF should see USMNT qualify.

Pick: YES -500

Stage Team USA Will Be Eliminated In

Result Odds
Do Not Qualify +300
Group Stage +200
Round of 16 +200
Quarter-Finals +600
Semi-Finals +1200
Finals +2600
Winner +6600

USA has qualified for a total of ten World Cups in their history. They had qualified for the past seven tournaments before failing to do so in Russia.

USMNT’s stage of elimination when qualifying has been as follows: Group Stage (4 times), Round of 16 (4 times), Quarter-Finals (1) and Semi-Finals (1).

With +200 being offered on both Group Stage and Round of 16, I’d bet them both and hope USMNT qualify and then follow their historical pattern with an early exit.

Pick(s): Group Stage and Round of 16 +200 each

Odds Dave Sarachan Coaches Team USA

Result Odds
Yes +400
No -700

When USMNT were officially eliminated from World Cup 2018 qualification, head coach Bruce Arena stepped down and Dave Sarachan was named interim manager. He held that title from October 24, 2017 for a little over a year.

In 12 friendlies during his interim status, USMNT won three matches with a 3-4-5 record, while mostly playing younger players for the future. Sarachan was a caretaker manager and don’t expect to see him again in 2022.

Pick: NO -700

Odds Italy Qualifies For 2022 World Cup

Result Odds
Yes -1000
No +600

If USA failing to qualify in 2018 was a disappointment, Italy failing to do so was a catastrophe.

It’s hard to see them missing out again, especially if the field expands to 48 teams (more on that later). However, the Italians have continued their mediocrity in the UEFA Nations league with a 1-2-1 record in League A’s Group C.

The gap in talent among nations in Europe is tightening and there’s some good value on picking the Italians to miss out on Qatar.

Pick: NO +600

Odds Canada Qualifies

Result Odds
Yes +600
No -1000

The Canadian Men’s National Team are currently ranked 78th in the world. That’s behind nations like Uganda, Syria, and Cape Verde Islands to name a few. Canada has qualified for the World Cup once in it’s history back in 1986.

In 2018 they were eliminated in the fourth round of CONCACAF qualifying and failed to make the final Hexagonal round. Canada should focus on 2026 when they will co-host the tournament.

Pick: NO -1000

Over/Under Temperature At Kickoff

Temperature Odds
Over 72.5F -120
Under 72.5F -120

The World Cup Final will take place on December 18, 2022.

The tournament has been moved to November/December to deal with Qatar’s extreme heat and the final should be played in the evening.

According to Timeanddate.com, December temperatures based on weather reports collected during 1985–2015 give Doha, Qatar average highs of 77°F and lows of 62.6°F.

This month Doha hit a high of 78.8 at noon and a high of 71.6 at 6:00 pm on December 18. The evening high has been rising the past few years though from 2014-2018. The past five years it’s ranged from 68, 68, 68, 69.8, and finally 71.6.

If the trend continued even next year could see the temperature exceed 72.5°F, much less four years from now.

Pick: OVER 72.5°F -120

Odds Qatar Makes 2022 World Cup Final

Result Odds
Yes +25000

Qatar are ranked a lowly 93rd in FIFA World Rankings and have never played in the World Cup. No doubt they will be heavy underdogs in most of their matches.

However, Russia were also not expected to do much and they fed off the home crowd and made it to the quarter-finals. At +25000, stranger things have happened.

Pick: YES +25000

Will 2022 World Cup Have 32 or 48 Teams?

Number of Teams Odds
32 -500
48 +300

Listen to FIFA President Gianni Infantino and it’s happening.

“You will have [a bigger] chance,” he said. “It is possible… It is feasible. We are discussing with our Qatari friends. We are discussing with many other friends in the region, we hope we have it happen, we always have to try.”

But Qatar cannot hold that many teams/games and expansion would require the inclusion of neighboring nations. That’s complicated given current political tensions in the area, but sharing the tournament could also help in easing those tensions.

Apparently Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar is open to the idea.

Pick: YES +300

Odd Ronaldo Plays In The 2022 World Cup?

Result Odds
Yes -150
No +130

Ronaldo loves goals. He loves records. Ronaldo has yet to win a World Cup.

He also takes care of his body and recently signed a four-year deal with Juventus. The Portuguese striker will surely have enough in him to at least play a supporting role in Qatar at 37 years old.

Pick: YES -150
