Benfica vs Inter Milan Preview
It’s been a good season for Benfica but has the potential to end up being a great one. They lead the Primeira Liga by seven points with just seven games to go and they have reached this UCL quarterfinal without losing a match. In fact, only Napoli has scored more goals than them in this season’s tournament.
They won Group H with a formidable 4-2-0 record, made even more impressive by the fact it was a group that also included PSG and Juventus, and joint-topped the group with PSG with identical records.

Only Two League Defeats for The Eagles
Lison’s Eagles made light work of their round-of-16 tie with Club Brugges – winning 2-0 in Belgium before demolishing their opponents in emphatic style back in the Stadium of Light, with goals from Rafa Silva, Ramos (2), Mario and Neres taking them to a 5-1 win on the night and 7-1 on aggregate.
The only downside for Benfica is that they come into this game off the back of a very rare defeat after losing 2-1 at home to Porto on Friday. It was only their second league defeat of the season.
Inter Knock Out Barca
After Inter missed out on the Serie A title in 2021-22 by just two points to their city rivals, AC Milan, they were hoping to go one better this season, in addition to going deep in the UCL. But while they are still very much in the mix in this competition, their chances of a Serie A title are long gone with Napoli 23 points clear of them.
In the UCL, they performed brilliantly to qualify from Group C, which also included Bayern Munich and Barcelona. A home win and an away draw against Bartca were enough to see them take second place at the expense of the Catalans with a 3-1-2 record.

Poor Recent Form for the Blues and Blacks
In the round-of-16, a 1-0 win against Porto courtesy of a late Romelu Lukaku goal in the first (home) leg was enough to get the job done, with the second leg in Portugal ending goalless. But since then the Blue and Blacks have hit a poor run of form and they come into this off the back of a run of no wins in six.
Last time out, they managed only a 1-1 draw on their away trip to lowly Salernitana – a result that left them down in fifth place – and so will need, from somewhere, to find the form they enjoyed in the first half of the season when they had those two great results against Barcelona.

Benfica vs Inter Milan Prediction
Inter’s form is such that it’s hard to make a solid case for the away win but to balance that out, they are past masters at European knockout soccer. Benfica too are very experienced in European soccer but, unlike Inter, are currently riding the crest of a wave.
But while this will be closer than the form book suggests, for me there is value in the home win as long as it remains in plus money.
Benfica vs Inter Milan Pick: Benfica to win (+110)
