Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction
Bayern’s season got off to a flying start, scoring 20 goals in their first four games, but their Bundesliga title defense has faltered in recent weeks with a run of three draws and, most recently, a defeat.
🗣️ @J__Nagelsmann on the opponent: "Leverkusen are in a tough spot, but they have a strong squad and know how to play. They have a lot of individual talent and an excellent coach. It's a heavyweight clash, even if the table doesn't fully represent this fact."#FCBB04 pic.twitter.com/9R2NESWecS

The loss came at the hands of FC Augsburg just prior to the international break when, despite totally dominating possession, they lost 1-0 following a 49th-minute strike from Mërgim Berisha. It was Augsburg’s second successive away win over Bayern.
Pressure on Nagelsmann
The Augsburg defeat left the Bavarians five points adrift of leaders Union Berlin and three behind second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who they visit next weekend. Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping the international break will have given his players a chance to reset and rediscover their form of August.

But a failure to beat a struggling Leverkusen would heap further pressure on Nagelsmann, with a run of five games without a win being unheard of in Bayern’s recent history.

Poor Start for Leverkusen
If Bayern’s start to the campaign has been underwhelming, Leverkusen’s has been nothing short of disastrous. A run of six defeats in their opening seven games, which included a humiliating 4-3 defeat by lower league Elversberg in the DFB-Pokal, saw them end up in the relegation zone. Two draws in their last two games have, however, at least edged them up to 15th place.
What will offer hope to Leverkusen manager Gerardo Seoane is that his team led in both of those games, and last time out, against Werder Bremen, were leading right up until the 82nd minute. It feels as if the slide has been arrested and they are not too far away from stringing some wins together.
💬 #Seoane: "We have to grow with our tasks. Individually, as a team and also me as a coach. The players and the staff have recently become closer. You can feel the solidarity among everyone to face this situation."

High Expectations for Die Werkself
Part of the disappointment of Leverkusen fans stems from the fact their team has been so consistent over the last five seasons, during which time they haven’t finished outside the top six. They have also competed in either the Champions League or the Europa League every season since 2018-19.
But, like Nagelsmann, Seoane finds himself under massive pressure as his team struggles to match their fans’ expectations. An unlikely win over Bayern relies heavily on star Czech striker Patrik Schick but would be the perfect response and would buy Seoane more time.
Don't mess with Callum! 💥⚽

Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Team Lineups and Injuries
Bayern Projected Lineup: Neuer, Pavard, De Ligt, Upamecano, Davies, Kimmich, Goretzka, Sane, Musiala, Muller, Mane.
Injuries & absences: Hernandez, Coman, Sarr.
Leverkusen Projected Lineup: Hradecky, Kossounou, Tah, Tapsoba, Frimpong, Andrich, Demirbay, Bakker, Hudson-Odoi, Diaby, Schick.
Injuries & absences: Lunev, Palacios, Wirtz, Adli, Bellarabi.
Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Pick
With both teams low on confidence, this is not the foregone conclusion the odds suggest and it could even be argued that Leverkusen have a little more momentum.
But, player-for-player, this Bayern team is unrivaled, and if they click they can beat every team in this league. Leverkusen will battle hard though and while a Bayern win looks highly likely it will not be the thrashing the bookies are predicting. The 2-0 home win at +900 looks good value.
Pick: Bayern Munich to win 2-0 (+900)
