Zagreb caused a major shock last week with a fine 1-0 home win over Chelsea, while Milan got off to a solid, if unspectacular start, with a draw away in Salzburg.

AC Milan vs Dinamo Zagreb Prediction
Milan’s disappointing group stage exit in last season’s Champions League was more than compensated for when they went on to pip their city rivals, Inter, to the Scudetto. It was their first Serie A title for 11 seasons and brought some much-needed success to a club that has had a tough decade.

They hope to translate that success into a good run deep into the knockout phase of this season’s UCL, and made a solid start with a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to RB Salzburg. The Austrian champions took a 28th-minute through Okafor, but Milan showed the grit needed to grind out results away from home and leveled through Saelemaekers.
Unbeaten AC
Stefano Pioli’s men are also unbeaten domestically and were able to follow up their Milan derby win over Inter a fortnight ago with an impressive 2-1 win away at Sampdoria on Saturday. Despite being down to ten men for most of the second half following Rafael Leao’s sending off for two bookable offenses, they chiseled out a 2-1 win goals from Junior Messias and Oliver Giroud.

All eyes now will focus on their UCL campaign and, while they start as massive favorites, it’s worth noting they have a terrible home record in this competition, with no home wins in their last six.

Zagreb Off to a Flyer
Zagreb shook the soccer world last week with victory over Chelsea – the winners of the 2021 Champions League. Despite having just 32 percent of the possession and having only six shots in the match, the only stat that mattered was that one of those shots, from Mislav Orsic, found the Chelsea net.
It was a win that cost Thomas Tuchel his job at Chelsea but more importantly for Zagreb, it got their UCL campaign off to a flyer. Despite remaining favorites to finish bottom of Group E, the Croatian champions have now put themselves in the mix for a top two place and a chance of making it to the knockout phase.

Dinamo’s Winning Run
Worth noting too is that this Zagreb team isn’t short of European experience and after claiming their fourth consecutive Croatian title last season, they negotiated some tricky-looking qualifying rounds, including wins over Shkupi, Ludogorets and Bodo/Glimt, to make it to this group stage.
They remain in good shape domestically too and again are leading the HNL – the Croatian Premier League – after a 1-0 win over HNK Gorica at the weekend. In their first nine games of this season, they have drawn one and won eight, so are a team full of confidence and should not be underestimated.

AC Milan vs Dinamo ZagrebTeam Lineups and Injuries
AC Milan Projected Lineup: Maignan, Dest, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez, Tonali, Bennacer, Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao, Giroud.
Injuries & absences: Ibrahimovic, Florenzi.
Dinamo Zagreb Projected Lineup: Livakovic, Ristovski, Sutalo, Peric; Misic, Moharrami, Ljubicic, Ademi, Ivanusec, Orsic, Petkovic.
Injuries & absences: None.
AC Milan vs Dinamo Zagreb Pick
The odds suggest a straightforward home win but that ignores the battling qualities of this Zagreb team and their winning habit. While the odds suggest a draw is a long shot, I see the value, especially considering AC’s awful home record in the UCL.
Pick: AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb to draw (+470)
