EPL – Comings and Goings
Manchester City starts as hot favorites again with good reason, having bought, amongst others, Erling Haaland – one of the hottest properties in world soccer. The 22-year-old Norwegian signed for City for a reported €60 million from Borussia Dortmund and joins other new signings, Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United and Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld.

While Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) and Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko (both Arsenal) have departed the Etihad, manager Pep Guardiola believes his squad now is stronger than the one that won last season’s EPL – bad news for their rivals.
Liverpool’s marquee signing of the summer, Uruguay international, Darwin Núñez, arrived at Anfield from Benfica for a cool €81 million and has been brought in, predominantly, to replace Sadio Mane who departed for Bayern Munich. The Reds still look formidable, with Mo Salah having signed a new contract.

The EPL’s biggest spenders of the summer have been Arsenal who, in addition to signing Jesus and Zinchenko from City, have brought in three more players, including Fabio Vieira from FC Porto. In total, they have spent around €140 million.
The Gunners’ north London rivals, Tottenham have also spent big, splashing out €109 million on Richarlison (Everton), Yves Bissouma (Brighton) and Djed Spence (Middlesbrough). They will be hoping that in Richarlison they may finally have found someone to alleviate the goalscoring burden from Harry Kane.

Also, unsurprisingly, splashing the cash are Newcastle United, whose Saudi-backed owners are desperate for the Toon to gatecrash the current big six. To date, they have spent €71 million on three new names – Sven Botman, Matt Targett, and Nick Pope – but are expected to spend at least the same again before the transfer window closes.
For Man Utd and their new manager Erik ten Hag there is still plenty of work in the transfer window to be done, but they have bought Lisandro MartÃnez from Ajax to strengthen their shaky defense.
Two Horse Race Again?
The odds suggest another two-horse race for the title but Tottenham’s clever spending looks to have edged them a little closer to the big two, especially if Richarlison hits the ground running.

Chelsea, who have had a difficult preseason, will be pushing hard but will need Raheem Sterling to excel if they are to close the gap, which last season was 19-points. The only other big name to arrive at Stamford Bridge over the summer so far has been center-back Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and they still lack firepower.
Arsenal’s new signings looked to have improved them, but there is still a gap in quality between them and the two favorites, while Newcastle’s big spending will undoubtedly make them stronger and close that same gap but they still have work to do to even make it into the top six.

Premier League Odds Best Bets
In addition to Newcastle giving themselves a chance of getting close to top six, West Ham also needs to be considered. Over the last two seasons, they have threatened to make it into the top four before finishing each campaign weakly – finishing in sixth and seventh respectively.
But four new signings at the London Stadium, including striker Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, could see them take that extra step this season.
Title – Man City (-165)
Top 4 – Arsenal (-165)
Top 6 – West Ham (+400)
