They continued to struggle in the second half and gave up their lead to France as favorites. Serbia played great through three quarters against Team USA and were leading by 17 at one point. They only scored 15 in the fourth quarter though as LeBron James and Steph Curry took over the game and won late 95-91.

This should be a close and exciting third place game. Serbia lost a close one in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and are seeking revenge on Saturday. They will do their best to forget about the fourth quarter collapse against Team USA and rally behind Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Jokic is averaging over 18 points a game in the Paris games and has four double-doubles. Bogdanovic is also averaging over 18 points per game and is fresh off a 20-point game against Team USA.

Germany is led by Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder. Both playmakers are averaging over 18 points per game in these games, and they will need to play well to stay in this game. Schroder put up 18 in Germany’s semifinal matchup against France, and Wagner put up 10. Wagner also had eight assists and eight rebounds against France. While Germany has plenty of scorers and a strong defense, Serbia has the edge with Nikola Jokic and his ability to score inside. It will be a close game, but between Jokic and Bogdanovic, Serbia can keep up with Germany’s up tempo playing style.

When these two teams played in the FIBA World Cup Final, 160 total points were scored. I believe we will see a similar type of game on Saturday. This will be a hard-fought game that will end up in the 150-160 range when it is all said and done. 171 is too many points in the bronze medal game.
