The starting grid is particularly important on this track as the last nine winners have started inside the top 12 slots. Who is a good bet to win this weekend?

Hop On Harvick Again
If you’re looking at which driver to go with from the group of favorites, you have to keep rolling with Harvick. He’s out of control right now as he has finished in the top five in eight straight races, which includes a pair of wins. It’s surprising that he’s not on top in the standings (Denny Hamlin edges him).

At any rate, Harvick has won two of the last three races in Michigan International Speedway and his last four starts here have gone first, seventh, first and second. He has either won or finished second in eight of the last 14 races here and placed in the top seven spots in 10 of those outings. He should be in the running for a win.
Elliott for a Top 10
Chase Elliott has a relatively short track history at Michigan as he’s only made starts here since 2016. Even so, the results have been quite reliable. Generally speaking, we’ve seen him produce steady Top 10’s. Of his eight starts here, he’s finished in the top 10 spots seven times. That includes three runners-up.

Elliott has been decent lately, going ninth, 12th, 12th and first (in the All-Star race) over his last four starts. He’s placed in the Top 10 in half of the 20 races this season with seven results in the top five spots, so he’s been decent. I’m banking on his consistency at this track to carry us with this prop.
Past Five Winners at FireKeepers Casino 400
Year | Driver |

2018 | Clint Bowyer |
2017 | Kyle Larson |
2016 | Joey Logano |
2015 | Kurt Busch |
Kurt Busch Worth A Look?
You might want to consider Kurt Busch for some props this week – like a Top 10 or matchups – because he tends to be decent at Michigan. It’s nothing jaw-dropping – he is coming off a 23rd in his last showing here – but prior to that, he finished 12th or better in each of his previous seven starts at Michigan International Speedway.

Taking a look on a more recent scale, he has placed in the top six spots in three of his last four here, which includes a runner-up finish in the spring race last year. Busch has three results of ninth or better in his last five starts (17th last week and 20th at the All-Star race), so he’s in decent form. Hopefully, he delivers for us this weekend.
