Trust Truex Jr. Again
Martin Truex Jr. is someone you’re going to want to look at when you’re handicapping Sunday’s race. After finishing second on Saturday, he’s now finished second, second and first in his last three starts at Dover. Looking further out, Truex Jr. has finished in the top four sports in seven of his last starts at this track.
Martin Truex Jr. was a little surprised he could hold off Denny Hamlin as long as he did, considering his car was the most loose during that final green-flag run at Dover: pic.twitter.com/nZkgi8T8CP

Focusing in on the 2020 season, there are few drivers that are hotter than Truex Jr. right now. After finishing third in five straight races, Truex Jr. changed things up by finishing second on Saturday. Given his track history and given his current hot streak, he’s worth a play once again.
Hamlin For A Top 10
Hamlin got the win on Saturday and that’s capped a nice run of Top 10’s for him here. It was his second straight, fourth in his last five and seventh in his last nine. Saturday’s win was his first-ever at this track, so I’m not expecting another one to happen on Sunday, but I do think he’s a good bet to finish among the top 10.

Taking a look at his overall track record, he’s on fire. As mentioned above, there are few drivers that are doing better than Truex Jr. right now but Hamlin is one of them. Over his last six starts, he has two wins, three second-place results and a sixth. He now has six wins on the season and is having an incredible year.
Past Five Winners at Drydene 311
Year | Driver |
---|---|
2020 | Denny Hamlin |
2019 | Kyle Larson |
2018 | Chase Elliott |
2017 | Kyle Busch |
2016 | Martin Truex Jr. |
Ride Elliott For Props
Chase Elliott had the pole position going into Saturday’s race and ended up with a respectable fifth-place finish. While he doesn’t have a huge track history at Dover (only has starts since 2016), most of them are very positive. In nine career starts, he has seven Top 10’s, which includes a win.

Elliott has some momentum right now as he’s finished in the Top 10 in five straight races. He’s gone fifth, first, ninth, seventh and ninth over his last five. Looking a bit further back, he’s finished 12th or better in eight straight starts. He’s on a roll right now and I’d look at him for matchup props or a Top 10.
