Kyle Busch Is a Good Bet
When you look at Busch’s overall history at Bristol, he seems to have a love-hate relationship with the track. He’s had spells where he’s absolutely untouchable. He’s also had runs where he can get anywhere near a win. From 2007 to 2011, he won the race five out of nine times. From 2014 to 2017, he finished 29th or worse in five of six starts.

Recently, he’s again been good at Bristol, so I’m willing to ride with him. He’s finished fourth, fourth and first in his last three outings and has three wins in his last six starts at Bristol. I think he’s one of the best bets from the group of favorites at this track.
Kurt Busch Offers Some Value
I’m looking at the board and I see Kurt Busch is way down the board as eight drivers are ahead of him in terms of the odds. However, I think he’s a good bet here – especially in his group where he’s pitted against Aric Almirola, Alex Bowman and Erik Jones.

Busch has been extremely reliable at this track lately as he has finished seventh, ninth, second and first in his last four starts here. He actually had a spell of four wins in five starts back in the early 2000s but a lot has changed since then. I’m looking at banking on him winning outright but I like him for this group bet or Top 10’s too.
Past Five Winners at Quaker State 400
Year | Driver |
---|---|
2019 | Kyle Larson |
2018 | A.J. Allmendinger |
2017 | Daniel Suarez |
2016 | Kyle Larson |
2015 | Clint Bowyer |
Bowyer for a Top 10?
Although it’s an All-Star race, it’s hard to ignore just how well Bowyer has done at Bristol Motor Speedway. This is his third-best track in terms of average finish but even that number might be a bit misleading. He had mixed results up until 2011 but has been fairly consistent on this track ever since.

Taking a look at his last five starts, he’s finished no worse than eighth each time. He’s finished in that range in 11 of his last 17 starts here too. The misses aren’t that bad either as he’s mostly in the teens when he does fall short. I’m looking at him for a Top 10 prop this week.
