Hamilton Aiming for 11th Podium Finish of 2019
Lewis Hamilton has not missed a beat this season after closing out 2018 with wins in six of his final eight contests to clinch a fifth career Formula One championship. The 34-year-old has been simply dominant this year, taking home the checkered flag on eight occasions to go along with a pair of second-place finishes.

The Stevenage, England native has emerged as a massive favorite to win this year’s Drivers Championship, pulling away from the pack with lofty -4000 odds. Hamilton also enjoys a solid track record on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the site of Sunday morning’s running of the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix, recording a pair of wins previously at this event, and reaching the podium in each of the past four years, including a second-place finish last year.
But while Hamilton and teammate Valtteri Bottas have enjoyed a spectacular campaign, recording a combined ten wins and giving Mercedes a comfortable 150-point lead atop the F1 Constructors Standings heading into the unofficial second half of the season, all eyes are focused on Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel heading into Sunday’s action.
Vettel Hopes to Kickstart Season with Fourth Career Win at Belgium
A four-time Formula Once champion during his years with Red Bull Racing, Vettel has endured a frustrating season during his fifth year with Ferrari. Vettel and young teammate Charles Leclerc opened the campaign amid high expectations after Ferrari’s new ride, the SF90, outclassed the field in preseason testing in Barcelona.

An array of technical issues, and regular doses of plain old bad luck, have contributed to Ferrari’s inability to post a victory this season. However, Belgium represents a golden opportunity for Ferrari and Vettel to turn the corner. The 32-year-old German last claimed the checkered flag at last year’s Belgian Grand Prix, outpacing Hamilton by 11.06 seconds and marking his third career win on the on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Listed as a close +225 second favorite on the Belgian Grand Prix odds, Vettel has also recorded the fastest lap at this event on three previous occasions, most recently in 2017, and joins Hamilton and Leclerc as an attractive +300 co-favorite to do it again this weekend.

2017 | Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes | 2.358 sec |
2016 | Nico Rosberg – Mercedes | 14.113 sec |
2015 | Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes | 2.058 sec |
2014 | Daniel Ricciardo – Red Bull-Renault | 3.383 sec |
Leclerc Continues Search for First Career Win
Leclerc travels to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps still searching for his first career F1 race victory, but sits among the favorites on the Belgian Grand Prix odds at +250. The 21-year-old Monte Carlo native was denied the win early this season at Bahrain, unable to hold a massive lead after suffering a catastrophic engine failure that dumped him to third.

Leclerc has rebounded, reaching the podium in four of his past six outings, and sports strong -250 odds of finishing in top three on Sunday morning.
Bottas Looks to Solidify Grasp on Second Place in F1 Standings
Bottas will hit the track on Sunday with a lot less to think about, after speculation about his future was put to rest this week with confirmation that he will be back with the German squad next season. The 30-year-old Finn has played a key role in Mercedes’ continued success this season, recording a pair of wins and five second-place finishes to maintain second place on the F1 Drivers Standings, 62 points back of Hamilton.

Bottas trails the favorites as a +600 bet to claim victory on Sunday, but has turned in mixed results in previous appearances at the Belgian Grand Prix, failing to reach the podium since finishing third back in 2014, and is coming off a season-worst eighth-place performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Red-Hot Verstappen Sporting Intriguing Odds in Home Race
Not to be overlooked in Sunday’s race is the man who has quickly become the darling of Formula One this season, Max Verstappen. The 21-year-old returns to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for his home race as a lengthy, but very attractive +650 wager on the race day odds despite enjoying a recent breakthrough.
Verstappen has lifted Red Bull Racing comfortably into third place on the F1 Constructors Standings while recording a pair of wins over his past four outings, and coming up just short in a thrilling duel with Hamilton at Hungary, where he finished second.
The young Belgian, whose hometown is located just 100 kilometers from Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, turned in a strong third-place finish at this event a year ago after starting from the No. 7 spot on the grid, and will be aiming to pay out on attractive +400 odds of recording the fastest lap for the fourth time in the past five races.
Picks: Vettel to win Belgian Grand Prix (+225), Verstappen to record Fastest Lap (+400)
