- Odds feature a who’s who of the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists
- American citizen turned Shabab leader Ibrahim Salih Mohammed Al-Yacoub offers intriguing betting value
Tensions heightened dramatically between the United States and Iran last week after US President Donald Trump ordered a drone strike that killed prominent Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani, along with the leader of an Iranian-supported, Iraqi-based militia, Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Iran is talking very boldly about targeting certain USA assets as revenge for our ridding the world of their terrorist leader who had just killed an American, & badly wounded many others, not to mention all of the people he had killed over his lifetime, including recently….

The move to take out Soleimani came just hours after Iranian-backed militiamen stormed the US Embassy in Baghdad, forcing staff members and diplomats to seek shelter in a safe room within the embassy. While the killing of Solemaini has raised concerns about further escalation in the simmering conflict between the US and Iran, and led to vows of revenge from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Trump has doubled down on his promise to retaliate with deadly force if US military personnel or diplomats come under attack.
With the president already demonstrating his willingness to back up threats with action, there are odds on who will be the next terrorist to be killed or captured by American forces. Al-Qaeda sheikh Hussam Abd Al-Ra’uf joins American-born wannabe bomber Jaber A. Elbaneh as +500 co-favorites.

Al-Qaeda Mouthpiece Tops the Odds
A 61-year-old Egyptian national, Al-Ra’uf has reportedly taken on a wider leadership role within Al-Qaeda since the death of Osama bin Laden. Sporting military credentials that date back to the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan as well as strong technology skills and fluency in English, Al-Ra’uf leads Al-Qaeda’s media apparatus, which he has used to mock Trump and denounce regimes in Muslim countries that cooperate with the US.

Al-Ra’uf’s activities have earned him a privileged spot atop the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list, a spot he’s occupied since a warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2018 by a US District Court in New York on an array of charges including “Conspiracy to Kill United States Nationals”.
Aspring Yemeni Bomber a Strong Co-Favorite
Born in Yemen in 1966, Elbaneh later moved to the United States, where he reportedly has a wife and seven children. The 53-year-old showed up on American radar after allegedly attending the Al Farouq training camp near Kandahar, Afghanistan, alongside the Lackawanna Six in the months prior to the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

While Elbaneh proved incompetent in his plans to bomb Yemeni oil facilities, keeping him under lock and key has been a different story. He has escaped from prison on two occasions and a $5 million bounty has been offered for his capture by the US Rewards for Justice Program.
Shabaab Ringleader Offers Intriguing Value
A trio of terrorists closely trail the favorites as a +700 bet. Ibrahim Salih Mohammed Al-Yacoub, an alleged member of the pro-Iran Saudi Hezbollah group, is joined by hijacker and alleged Hezbollah member Mohammed Ali Hammadi, along with Jehad Serwan Mostafa, who is currently the highest-ranking US citizen fighting with a terrorist organization overseas.

In December, US federal authorities announced a $5 million reward for information leading to the capture of Mostafa, one of several members of the Somali terrorist group Shabab to make the odds. The 37-year-old offers intriguing value as a +700 wager after Shabab militants attacked a base used by US forces in Kenya in the hours following the killing of Solemani.
While Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei does not appear in the odds to be killed or captured by Trump, the 80-year-old sports short -800 odds to not be alive when Trump leaves the White House.
