Panthers Favored in Game 7 Odds

The opening Oilers vs Panthers Game 7 odds favor Florida despite the Cats losing three straight games in the series. Florida jumped out to a 3-0 lead but have found themself playing in Game 7 after the Oilers stormed back to win three straight.

In Friday night’s Game 6, Edmonton jumped out to a 3-0 lead but had to weather a Panthers pushback to win by a 5-1 final score. Shots on goal were an even 21-21, with Florida outchancing Edmonton 22-17 (via Natural Stat Trick).

All the talk heading into Game 6 was about Connor McDavid’s brilliance but the Cats actually kept him off the scoresheet in Game 6. While this can be viewed as a positive for Paul Maurice’s club, McDavid remains the heavy favorite in the Conn Smythe odds.

It may be surprising to see Florida as the Game 7 favorite, but keep in mind oddsmakers initially instilled the Cats as the favorites in this series. In a one-game, winner-take-all matchup at Amtrank Bank Area, Florida could feed off the home crowd and reverse some of the momentum.

Oilers vs Panthers Game 7 Prediction

So, who will win Game 7 between the Oilers and Panthers? There has only been one instance in the history of the NHL in which a team trailing 3-0 in the Cup Final has gone on to win the series. However, this Oilers squad is clearly special and features the world’s best player.

While history isn’t on their side, we believe the Oilers will draw the majority of the public betting interest leading up to Game 7. It’s very hard for bettors to place any confidence in a Panthers team that has lost three straight games.

For our early Oilers vs Panthers Game 7 prediction, we’re looking to the “under” in this game. Neither team is going to want to take many offensive risks with Lord Stanley on the line, and a historic betting trend agrees.

Since 2005, under bets are 43-26-9 (60.9%) in Game 7 of the NHL playoffs. This means betting the under has been profitable in over 60% of Game 7s in the past two decades.

In the two Game 7s played recently between the Bruins vs Maple Leafs and Stars vs Golden Knights, the under hit in both games, continuing this trend. There’s a reason the juice is on the under in the opening Oilers vs Panthers Game 7 odds.

  • Early Pick: Under 5.5 (-130)
