Oilers vs Lightning Recent History
Tuesday night’s matchup marks the first meeting of the season between these clubs. Each team tallied a home victory in a pair of meetings last season. But overall, it has been the Lightning who have dominated when these clubs face-off, winning nine of 12 clashes since 2014. These teams have produced mixed results in totals betting, with the OVER/UNDER going 5-5 over their past 10 tilts.
Edmonton Oilers Betting Outlook
Tuesday’s contest marks the second time this season the Oilers will be playing on back-to-back nights. The club has won three straight when playing in the back half of games played on consecutive nights. And apart from Monday’s narrow loss to the Capitals, the Oilers have been road warriors, posting wins in eight of their previous 10 regular season road contests, dating back to the beginning of April.
This entire sequence is ridiculous. The kick pass from Draisaitl, the goal by McDavid. Unreal. pic.twitter.com/1YQFZlyWPM

The Oilers have wasted no time asserting themselves offensively. The club has averaged 3.85 goals per game during a 7-6-0 start, third-best in the NHL. Once again, the duo of Connor McDavid have powered the attack, combining to score 21 of the team’s 50 total goals today, and tallied four total points on Monday.

However, goaltending has emerged as a massive concern. The club has surrendered 15 total goals during their current three-game slide, and 4.33 goals per game over their past six. While the goaltending tandem of Jack Campbell and Stuart Skinner have been targeted by impatient fans during the team’s swoon, they have received little help from an Oilers defence that has allowed them to face an average of 36.7 shots on goal over the past three games.
Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Outlook
The Oilers recent defensive woes is good news for the Lightning, who have rediscovered their offensive touch after a slow start. The club mustered just 13 total goals while opening their schedule with losses in three of their first five games. However, with the team’s biggest stars now playing like it, the club has averaged four goals per game over their past five outings.
Pretty ridiculous run for that line of Brandon Hagel, Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov right now. The three have combined for 32 points over the last seven games with with 13 goals and 19 assists.
Individual stats in the last seven:
Kucherov: 6-7–13
Hagel: 4-6–10
Point: 3-6–9— Chris Krenn (@Chris_Krenn) November 6, 2022
Among the players on the rebound following a slow start is Braydon Point. The talented winger has mas turned in multi-point performance on three occasions during his current four-game point streak, capped by a two-point outing in Saturday’s win over the Sabres. In addition, team captain Steve Stamkos looks to have put a four-game pointless streak behind him with four assists over his past three games. However, Stamkos has failed to bulge the twine in seven outings since opening the campaign with seven goals in five games.
Nikita Kucherov has played six career home games vs. EDM & found the scoresheet in all of them with 14 points total (7G, 7A), including five straight games with a goal & multiple points.
Steven Stamkos has also recorded points in six straight home games vs. EDM (5-6—11). pic.twitter.com/VQQwcudskD

Stamkos has also been a steady contributor on the Bolts power play, scoring five goals and adding three assists with the extra man. Overall, Tampa Bay has scored four power-play goals over their past six, and added a pair of shorthanded marks over that stretch.
Oilers vs Lightning Prediction
This contest has all the makings of a wild offensive affair. However, with the Oilers struggling to contain opposing shooters and providing their netminders with little support, opportunity knocks for the Lightning to tally yet another home victory over the beleaguered Oilers.
The Picks: Lightning -1.5 (+143); OVER 6.5 (-120)
