Kings vs Oilers Recent History
Wednesday night’s matchup marks the first of four regular-season meetings between these Pacific Division rivals. The Oilers took three of four from the Kings last season before knocking off Los Angeles in seven games in the first round of last season’s NHL playoffs.
Overall, the Oilers hold a clear edge in head-to-head action, topping the Kings in 10 of 14 meetings, but have failed to post consecutive victories during a 3-3 SU run on home ice. Recent clashes have been relatively low-scoring affairs, with the total topping 6.0 just twice over their past six dates, generating a 4-2-0 run for the UNDER.
Los Angeles Kings Betting Outlook
The Kings enter Wednesday’s action trailing the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights by just five points in the standings, but have plenty of work to do to reverse their recent shaky performance on the road. Los Angeles has surrendered four goals per game while losing five of its past six on the road, and have been held to two or fewer goals on three occasions over that stretch.

Following fast starts, Anze Kopitar and Gabriel Villardi have cooled off considerably since the calendar turned to November. Kopitar has just one point over his past three road appearances, and two total goals in his past 14 outings, while Villardi has been kept off the scoresheet while mustering just four total shots over his past three games.
Cal Petersen is expected to get the start on Wednesday after earning the win in Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Detroit. However, Petersen has struggled on the road, surrendering 17 total goals in four appearances.
Edmonton Oilers Betting Outlook
The Oilers have struggled at both ends of the ice while losing four of their past six. The club has surrendered 4.33 goals per game over that stretch, and have not fared much better on home ice, where they have allowed 14 total goals while losing two of three.

Things have gone particularly sour for Wednesday’s expected starting goalie Jack Campbell. Inked to a lucrative long-term contract over the summer, Campbell has disappointed in his Oilers debut, allowing 4.80 goals per game over his past five outings, further inflating his already bloated goals against average to 4.27.
The club’s goaltending woes overshadow what has been a respectable offensive performance. The Oilers currently rank fourth overall in the league with 3.69 goals scored per game. However, the team’s offensive production has tailed off since the loss of Evander Kane to a wrist injury, with Oilers shooters potting just four total even-strength goals over the past three games.
Kings vs Oilers Prediction
With both these teams struggling up front, a rebound performance by either of tonight’s netminders could translate into a big win. And considering the Kings’ struggles to score in recent head-to-head meetings, potting more than two markers in just three of 10 meetings, as well as the effectiveness of the Edmonton power play, which has produced 12 goals over the past nine games, the edge must go to the hometown Oilers.
The Pick: Oilers Puck Line -1.5 (+165)
