The opening two games of the first round Stanley Cup Playoffs matchup in Winnipeg were fantastic for the Jets, as they won both by scores of 5-3 and 2-1. As the series shifted to St. Louis on Thursday, it was a totally different story, as the Blues were singing a different tune, smashing their rivals 7-2. A crucial Game 4 goes on Sunday, with the Blues hoping to head back to Manitoba even at two games apiece.

Winnipeg (56-22-4, 116 points) won the Presidents’ Trophy as the top regular-season team. St. Louis (44-30-8, 96 points) was the last team in the postseason in the West as the second Wild Card squad. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm ET/Noon CT, with coverage on TBS/truTV/Max in the United States and CBC, along with Sportsnet in Canada.

Including regular season tilts, the Jets have won five of seven meetings between these two clubs. They held court in the first two games in Winnipeg, taking them 5-3 and 2-1, but then St. Louis crushed their adversaries 7-2 in Game 3. The presumptive Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck was yanked after surrendering six goals on 25 shots.

The Jets won the Presidents’ Trophy for the first time in franchise history (116 points). The Blues stumbled through the first four months of the campaign (23-25-4), well on their way to missing the postseason. However, since February 1st, they were dynamite, leading the NHL in points percentage in their final 30 contests (21-5-4, .767 pts %).

In the series, Blues netminder Jordan Binnington has a woeful .879 save % and 2.72 goals against average, while his counterpart Hellebuyck has worse numbers, a .844 save % and 3.52 GAA. With the goalies not lighting the world on fire, that’s why I’m bullish on the over 5.5 goal total, especially with it being a +115 price. Additionally, the Blues are 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 home games, and Winnipeg 2-8 ATS in the last ten road affairs.

Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor have paced Winnipeg, putting up five and four points, respectively. The Blues have benefitted greatly from blueliner Cam Fowler and his six assists (seven points), Pavel Buchnevich has six points and Robert Thomas has five. In Game 3, Buchnevich had a hat-trick and an assist, and Fowler racked up five points.

There have been some key injuries that teams are dealing with. The Jets haven’t had the services of Gabriel Vilardi all series (upper-body), who had 61 points on the campaign. Nikolaj Ehlers also hasn’t suited up (63 points), with a foot ailment and he’s week-to-week. D-man Dylan DeMelo wasn’t able to play in Game 3 as well, due to an illness.

The Blues haven’t had rearguard Torey Krug all season on LTIR (ankle), and forward Dylan Holloway is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, and hasn’t played since early April. That’s a significant loss because he had 63 points, third on the team in scoring.

In the Jets vs Blues Game 4 odds, Winnipeg is a -130 moneyline favorite, giving them a 56.52% implied win probability to head back to Winnipeg up 3-1 in the series.

A $130 bet would profit $100 if they’re victorious. Conversely, a $100 wager on +110 Blues would return $110. Our SBD formula has the Jets emerging victorious 3.50-2.92, meaning St. Louis would cover the spread, and the over 5.5 goal total (+115) would hit.
