Islanders Given 12-1 Odds to Erase 3-0 Deficit in Series With Hurricanes

- The Carolina Hurricanes lead their Eastern Conference semifinal 3-0.
- The New York Islanders have scored a total of three goals in the entire series.
- The Hurricanes have now won seven of their last eight playoff games.
The Carolina Hurricanes have taken a 3-0 series lead on the New York Islanders. As shocking as it sounds, the “Bunch of Jerks” are just one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals.
Is Carolina a good bet or is there value betting on an Islanders comeback?

Carolina Hurricanes | -3000 |

Hurricanes Continue To Dominate
The theme of this series has been pretty simple: Carolina has their way. What’s crazy is that the Islanders have actually played their game, for the part, by putting forth some stellar defense. Goaltender Robin Lehner still has a .930 save percentage for the series. However, they find themselves in a 3-0 hole. They’re now a +1500 dog to win the series. They were +325 after Game 2.

The Islanders simply can’t find enough offense right now. We knew that could be an issue as they were just 22nd in goals scored this season and right now, they simply can’t find a way through. Could something change in Game 4 and beyond? Possibly but I wouldn’t want to bet on it.
Hurricanes Are One Of The Hottest Teams In The NHL
Few people remember at this point but Carolina actually started the season 15-17-5. At that point, many figured that they’d be sellers at the trade deadline and they’d again have an eye to the future. However, the Canes stayed patient and have turned things around.

Since that time, the Hurricanes are 38-15-2, which is an incredible mark. To put that in perspective, that would make them the second-best team in the NHL over the course of a season – only trailing the record-setting Tampa Bay Lightning.
Specifically in the playoffs, we’re now looking at a team that’s won four straight games and seven of their last eight. Since the middle of the season, this team has been playing like a confident, competent group and there’s no reason to believe anything will change here.
Isles Had Their Chance
The Islanders have had their chances but I’m not expecting them to win this series. If they were going to bring it, they should have done it in Game 2 or Game 3. The truth is they did and that was the best they could do. Their offense is challenged and the Hurricanes – even with backup Curtis McElhinney in net in Game 3 – know exactly how to lock them down.

The Isles fans booed John Tavares when he returned to Long Island as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs but he’s the type of gifted offensive player that they’re truly missing in this spot. They’re not going to win this series, so I wouldn’t bet them – even with a big payout.
