The Flames exploded for three third period goals Thursday against the Leafs, giving them five wins where they have scored four goals.

Flames on Fire Under Geoff Ward
Like the Leafs, who are thriving under Sheldon Keefe, the Calgary Flames too have found success with the former teacher in Ward. He has preached being a four-line team rather than just being dependent on stars like Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm. Ward split that top line from last season.
“I’m most proud of the way the guys are coming together. They stick up for each other, they play for one another.”

It has paid dividends, as the Flames have seen 11 different goal scorers get on the board over the past six games. Lindholm centres Matthew Tkachuk and Andrew Mangiapane. Monahan is working with Mikael Backlund and Dillon Dube and Gaudreau is with Milan Lucic and Derek Ryan.
Hurricanes Looking to Rebound Against Flames
Carolina heads into Calgary fresh off a 1-0 loss to the Canucks. Stoned time and time again by Jacob Markstrom, Carolina will be a tough team to play against as they look to get back in the win column.
Carolina beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 on Tuesday night but struggled at times, giving up a 3-0 lead to win 6-3.
Andrei Svechnikov leads the Hurricanes with 34 points, while Sebastian Aho has a team-leading 18 goals, and Teuvo Teravainen leads the club with 24 assists. Dougie Hamilton has 30 points as well.

The Hurricanes are currently third in the Metropolitan Division with 40 points. They are eighth in the league in goals allowed with 86 and have a 86.0% power play kill percentage. Oddsmakers have the Hurricanes at +1000 to win that division and +2000 to win the Stanley Cup.
In goal, Petr Mrazek and James Reimer form a solid crease tandem. Mrazek is tied for third in the NHL with two shutouts, with a 2.52 GAA that ranks 16th.

Best Bet
Both teams have -105 odds on the Moneyline to win the game and it’s a tough call, considering the way that both teams have performed. Give the edge to Calgary in this one though as they have rattled off seven straight wins.
The Pick: Â Calgary (-105)
