Devils vs Golden Knights Recent History

Friday night’s matchup marks the second and final meeting of the season between these clubs. The Devils skated to a 3-2 victory when they hosted Vegas back on January 24, and have now topped the Golden Knights in two straight tilts, ending a four-game head-to-head slide.

With the total topping 5.0 just twice in their past six matchups, the UNDER is on a 4-2 run when these teams meet.

New Jersey Devils Betting Outlook

The Devils offense has been firing on all cylinders during their recent surge, scoring seven times in each of their past two contests and averaging 4.83 goals per game in their past six overall. The club simply overpowered the Avalanche in Wednesday’s win, establishing a 3-0 lead in the first two minutes on their way to an impressive victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions.

That win also extends what has been a sensational run for this club, which has avoided consecutive losses while going 18-4-3 in 25 outings since December 28. However, the Devils have produced uneven results on the road over that stretch, claiming the win in just four of their past eight away dates.

Forward Dawson Mercer maintained his current torrid pace in Wednesday’s win. The talented 20-year-old potted the game winner and contributed three assists, and has now racked 14 points during a seven-game point streak.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Outlook

Knotted with the Los Angeles Kings in the race for first place in the Pacific Division, the Golden Knights made an intriguing move this week, acquiring veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick from Columbus ahead of the NHL trade deadline. It remains unclear if Quick will make his Vegas debut on Friday night. However, shutting down opposing shooters had been the least of this club’s worries until both Laurent Brossoit and Logan Thompson were recently sidelined by injury.

The Golden Knights have allowed just 2.30 goals per game over their past 10 outings, and limited opponents to two or fewer goals in six of their past 11 outings. However, Vegas shooters have not seized the opportunity, potting just 11 total goals during their current 2-1-2 run.

Jack Eichel has remained the exception to the Golden Knights’ scoring woes. Eichel potted a pair of goals in Wednesday’s victory over the Hurricanes, and has seven goals and 11 points in his past nine contests.

Devils vs Golden Knights Prediction

The Devils’ recent offensive explosion should strike fear into opponents, even a club like the Golden Knights that has turned in stingy defensive performances of late.

However, with the Vegas goaltending situation in flux, and the team’s big guns largely silent, look for New Jersey to extend its winning ways in another high-scoring affair.

The Pick: Devils ML (-112); OVER 6.0 (-120)
