Favorites were ruling the roost in the NFL Week 4 straight up picks. The chalk went 8-5-2 on the slate for the fourth week of the NFL season. The most bet on underdog, the Miami Dolphins, +2.5 at Buffalo, were whipped 48-20 by the Bills.
Which upset picks look to leave their mark in Week 5, along with a wad in your wallet? Let’s look at that.
NFL Week 5 Upset Picks
Matchup | Spread | Moneyline | Pick | Units Risked |
---|---|---|---|---|
Green Bay Packers vs Las Vegas Raiders | GB +1 | -110 | GB | 1 |
Philadelphia Eagles vs Los Angeles Rams | LAR +4.5 | +180 | LAR | 1 |
Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers | DAL +3.5 | +150 | DAL | 1 |
Certainly the marquee matchup on the Week 5 NFL slate sees the 4-0 San Francisco 49ers playing host to the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys. In head-to-head comparisons, the Cowboys suffered their only defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals, while the 49ers whipped Arizona 35-16. However, Dallas is 6-3 straight up in the last nine meeting with the 49ers.

NFL Week 5 Upset Picks
There are two unbeaten teams left in the NFL – the 4-0 Niners and the 4-0 Philadelphia Eagles, the same two squads that clashed a year ago in the NFC Championship Game. Could both be falling from the ranks of the unbeaten on the same day?
Cowboys Give 49ers Fits
Not only has Dallas won six of the last nine games against San Francisco, the Cowboys have been the only NFL team face 49ers QB Brock Purdy for a full game and make him look human. In last year’s divisional playoffs, San Fran beat Dallas 19-12. It’s the only game in which Purdy has started and gone the distance and the Niners didn’t score 20+ points.
San Francisco has tallied up 30 points or more in all four games this season. But Dallas is the NFL’s #1 defense, allowing 259.75 yards per game. The Cowboys are also the #1 NFL scoring defense, permitting just 10.3 points per game.
NFL Upset Picks: Dallas Cowboys Moneyline (+150)
Look for Packers to Bounce Back
Whether they’re calling LA, Oakland, or Las Vegas home, the Raiders have been absolutely owned by the Green Bay Packers. Straight up the Packers have won eight in a row over the Raiders. You have to go back to 1990 to find the Raiders posting a win over Green Bay.
Former Fresno State wide receiver Davante Adams did not practice Thursday with the Las Vegas Raiders because of a shoulder injury, and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo remains in concussion protocol.https://t.co/tYFgDA0t1K

Following that TNF home debacle against the Detroit Lions, Green Bay can use a shot of confidence. It doesn’t hurt the Packers’ cause that they’re coming in off an extended rest, while Raiders WR and former Packer Davante Adams (shoulder) and QB Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion protocol) are uncertain starters.
NFL Upset Picks: Green Bay Packers Moneyline (-110)
Rams Off to Surprising Start
While the Eagles are unbeaten, they’re hardly looking like a juggernaut so far this season. In their last outing, they escaped with an overtime win over the same Washington Commanders who just lost to the previously winless Chicago Bears.
Philadelphia is flying across the country to face a Los Angeles team proving to be a lot Ram tougher than the experts were projecting in the NFL preseason picks. Then again, Philly hasn’t lost a game to the Rams in LA since 1977.
Puka Nackua vs Aquan Boldin WR Comparison
Player (Team) | Receptions | Yards | TD |
---|---|---|---|
Puka Nacua (LA Rams) | 39 | 501 | 1 |
Anquan Boldin (Arizona Cardinals) | 30 | 464 | 2 |
Only the Bears and the Denver Broncos, two of the NFL’s most woeful franchises, have allowed more touchdown passes than the nine surrendered b the Eagles. And they’ll be facing a Rams passing attack led by rejuvenated QB Matthew Stafford, #2 in passing yardage (307.3 YPG) in the league and rookie WR sensation Puka Nacua.
Update: #Rams WR Cooper Kupp "should be good to go" for Week 5 against the #Eagles, per @RapSheet
Be interesting to see how they use both Kupp and Puka Nacua in that offense. https://t.co/duQeg9Bzll pic.twitter.com/Uq5AxjRoWy

Nacua’s 39 catches not only lead the NFL, they’re the most ever by a player in his first four games in the history of the league, surpassing the previous mark of 30 set by Anquan Boldin. And as an added boost, WR Cooper Kupp, who two years ago led the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and TD catches, is expected to be activated from IR for this game.
The people are displaying no confidence at all in the ability of the Rams to pull off the upset here. In the NFL public betting splits, the Eagles at -208 are getting 88% of handle and 92% of bets in the moneyline splits.
