Is Super Bowl 57 your first foray into the betting world?
One of the most popular ways to bet on the Super Bowl is by the point spread, perhaps the preferred method when wagering on the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb 12 from Glendale, AZ.
We’re going to break this down step-by-step, from reading the spread odds to win the Super Bowl, to how you actually place a bet on one of the preferred US betting sites.
Super Bowl 57 Spread Odds
Team | Spread |
---|---|
Kansas City Chiefs | +1.5 (-110) |

What Is A Point Spread?
As soon as the Chiefs and Eagles punched their ticket to the title game, oddsmakers began building a point spread.
In almost every NFL game, one team is determined a favorite and the other as an underdog.
The team chosen as a favorite has to win by a certain number of points to cash the bet — known as covering the spread. Their point figure will always have a minus number in front of it.

Conversely, the underdog is given points to their final total, and will always have a plus number. This means the underdog could lose the game, but if the score falls inside that point spread, they would win the wager.
Let’s say you bet on the favorited team to cover a -2.5 point spread in the Super Bowl, and they win by three points, you’d walk away a winner because they would still win even if those 2.5 points were actually subtracted from the final score.

What Is The Spread for The Super Bowl?
The 2023 Super Bowl odds have the Eagles as 1.5-point favorites over the Chiefs. In simpler terms, if you bet on Philly at this spread, you’ll need them to win by at least two points.
If you pick the Chiefs, and they win, you have won your bet. They could also lose the game by a point, and you would still be a winner.

Point spreads can change for a myriad of reasons, with injuries to key players the biggest shifter. In fact, a big reason the Chiefs are even considered an underdog is the continued health concerns for Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes, who is dealing with a high ankle sprain that has limited his mobility in the playoffs.
For Super Bowl 57, the Eagles have been favorites as high as 2.5-points — needing them to win by at least a field goal for you to cover. If you’re betting the Chiefs, you’d love to find those 2.5-point odds, as that gives you another point cushion if KC does lose a close one.

How Do I Make a Bet on the Super Bowl Point Spread?
We’ll use DraftKings as the betting site to make our Super Bowl bet. It’s a good time to remind you to check out all the Super Bowl betting promotions available for you, simply for signing up. Free money for making a bet? Yes, please.
Once you’ve logged into DK, you can click on the Super Bowl LVII tab to take you to the betting page for the game. In this instance, we’re going to take Kansas City as the 1.5-point ‘dogs. It’s as easy as clicking on the spread bet you want.
If you’re wondering what the -110 figure is, that’s simply the cost of doing business. Sportsbooks are essentially taking 10% off the top for you to make the bet.
That means a $1 bet won’t get you back $2 (your initial wager plus the dollar win), but $1.90.
In this case, we’re putting $20 down on the Chiefs, and the payout will deliver $18.18 in winnings (on top of your original $20 bet, for the $38.18 total).
Super Bowl Spread Prediction
Interested in how the rest of the United States is betting against the spread? You’ll see that it’s definitely Eagle green everywhere but in Kansas City.
After some line movement earlier in the week, the Chiefs vs Eagles spread is holding pretty steady at 1.5. While both teams have recent experience in the big game, each winning one title in the last five years, the Chiefs’ core from that championship is still mostly intact.
And as strong as Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni have been as a coach-QB unit this year, they weren’t anywhere near Philly’s last title win. Andy Reid and Mahomes have only continued to gel since, which seems like a big advantage.
Assuming Mahomes is healthy, the underdogs look mighty tempting over here.
