NFL Preseason Week 3 is now or never stage for players seeking to utilize the NFL preseason to establish their place on the roster or their role on the team.
For Seattle, back after a bout with COVID-19, Drew Lock will get a lengthy look against the Dallas Cowboys to show whether he’s worthy of being QB1 for the Seahawks.
There’s intrigue in Pittsburgh at the QB1 position. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has yet to declare veteran Mitchell Trubisky to be his starter, even though Trubisky is taking first-team reps. In the NFL preseason, 2022 first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett is continuing to display that he may be more NFL-ready than anyone thought.
Meanwhile, NFL Preseason Week 3 will see the longest active winning streak in pro sports that no one outside of sports bettors cares about again be put on the line. The Baltimore Ravens are playing host to the Washington Commanders. Baltimore has won an NFL-record 22-straight NFL preseason games.
Let’s take a look at the NFL Preseason Week 3 NFL odds on each of the Week 3 games.

The shortest spread of NFL Preseason Week 3 is the Vikings vs Broncos which is listed as a pick’em. On the other hand, both the Panthers and Ravens are six-point favorites over the Bills and Commanders respectively. As far as totals are concerned, the Bills vs Panthers are given the largest number at 42, while the smallest digits are assigned to the Packers and Chiefs listed at 36.
Lions vs Steelers Pick
The last time the Detroit Lions won an NFL regular-season game at Pittsburgh, it was during the Eisenhower Administration. Luckily for them, this is a preseason game.
On August 12, 2016, Jake Rudock was the hero of Detroit’s 30-17 NFL preseason win over the Steelers at Heinz Field. He threw for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to rally the Lions from a 17-16 deficit. However, the Lions are still 1-4 straight up at Pittsburgh during NFL preseason play since 1997.
Detroit’s 27-26 win in Week 2 over the Indianapolis Colts was the first NFL preseason win by the Lions since 2018. They’d gone 0-9 SU since a 33-30 win at Tampa Bay on August 24, 2018. The drought included a 26-20 loss at Pittsburgh last season. Backup Tim Boyle is expected to start at QB for Detroit.

Making a cameo appearance during Pittsburgh’s 16-15 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pickett completed 6 of 7 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. He ran an impressive two-minute offense, moving the Steelers 63 yards for a TD in just 42 seconds. The Steelers went three and out three times in a row with Trubisky under center.
Amazingly, despite a porous offensive line that’s put Steelers QBs in persistent jeopardy, Pittsburgh is 2-0 SU heading into Week 3. CBS is carrying Lions vs Steelers with the Steelers as 3.5-points favorites on Sunday, August 28 at 4 pm ET.
Best Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5 (-110)
Seahawks vs Cowboys Pick
Lock was getting more first-team reps in practice and was all set to be given the starting nod in Week 2 when he tested positive for COVID-19. Cleared to play in Week 3, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is indicating that Lock will get the start and see significant playing time against the Cowboys. This contributes to the Seahawks being 3.5-point favorites this weekend. Lock was 11-for-15 for 102 yards and two TDs against Pittsburgh in the NFL preseason opener.

However, the Seahawks will be without both of their 2022 second-round draft picks. Running back Ken Walker III (hernia surgery) and outside linebacker Boye Mafe (shoulder) are on the injury list.
There’s an intriguing battle for the backup QB position in Dallas. Cooper Rush is the incumbent #2 behind Dar Prescott. However, in last week’s 32-18 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Will Grier went 6-for-10 for 98 yards. He missed the preseason opener due to a groin injury.
The Seahawks vs Cowboys can be seen on the NFL Network on Friday, August 26 at 8 pm ET.
Best Bet: Seattle Seahawks -3.5 (-110)
Commanders vs Ravens Pick
A 24-17 Week 2 triumph over the Arizona Cardinals extended Baltimore’s unfathomable preseason success story. The Ravens are also 20-2 against the spread during this 22-game unbeaten run. They were 5-point favorites over the Cardinals.
The last time Baltimore lost an NFL preseason game was a 20-19 setback to the Atlanta Falcons on September 3, 2015. At the time, current Ravens QB1 Lamar Jackson was prepping for his freshman season at Louisville.

Baltimore also dropped a 31-13 home-field decision to Washington during the 2015 NFL preseason, in which the Ravens went 1-3. That’s the last time Washington won against Baltimore in NFL preseason play.
The Ravens have won and covered three times against Washington since that 2015 loss. Baltimore won 23-3 at home in 2017, and 20-7 (2020) and 37-3 (2021) at Washington. That’s an average margin of victory of 22.3 points per game.
The game is slated for Saturday, August 27 at 7 pm ET.
