Eagles vs Lions Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Philadelphia Eagles -4.5 (-110) -222 Over 48.5 (-110)
Detroit Lions +4.5 (-110) +180 Under 48.5 (-110)

Odds as of September 9th at BetMGM Sportsbook

The line on this game looks a little off. It may be a Hard Knocks boost as currently 63% of the public likes the Lions to cover the spread. This spread started at -3.5 on BetMGM and has hovered between that number and -4.5 ever since.

Fly Eagles Fly

Philadelphia enters the 2022 NFL season with high hopes. General Manager Howie Roseman used his two first-round picks to add wide receiver AJ Brown and nosetackle Jordan Davis. If only those two picks are productive in their Eagles’ careers, that’s an unbelievable haul.

Similarly, the Eagles will be hoping for a third-year leap from quarterback Jalen Hurts. The former Oklahoma pivot looked excellent down the stretch last season. In three straight Philadelphia victories from weeks 15-17, Hurts finished 54 of 81 with three touchdowns and just one interception. All of Philly is praying the addition of AJ Brown can aid Hurts in taking his game to the next level. Should he be able to do so, the sky is the limit for this strong Eagles squad.

Philadelphia has talked about handing the keys of the team to Hurts all off-season, so you can bet he’ll be ready in this one. Armed with a top-5 offensive line, receivers DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown and an ascending running back room, the Eagles’ offense is primed to explode in 2022.

On the other side of the football, the Eagles added the aforementioned Jordan Davis, defensive backs CJ Gardner-Johnson and James Bradberry and sack artist Haason Reddick to an already strong unit. It’s a wonder this team isn’t the favorite to win the NFC East.

School of Hard Knocks

All of a sudden everybody loves Detroit. After a summer of coach-speak and getting to know their fun-loving players, it seems like the entire world loves to bet on the Lions. Head coach Dan Campbell leads a group he hopes to see overachieve in 2022.

On offense, the Lions could surprise some teams in 2022. They boast a legitimate offensive line, led by former top ten pick Penei Sewell. On top of that, Lions running back D’Andre Swift is primed and ready for a breakout year. If he’s able to stay healthy Swift may become a legitimate star this season.

After adding pass-rusher Aidan Hutchison to an underwhelming group, the Lions’ defense may finally have some juice up front. Former Ohio State star corner Jeff Okudah is finally healthy and looked like his old self this pre-season. The pieces are in place to change the culture in Detroit,  however it remains to be seen if Dan Campbell is the man to finally see that change through.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Detroit Lions pick

Unfortunately, the Lions quarterback is still Jared Goff. Although they may have added pieces on defense, it’s impossible to trust this shaky unit. After all, the Lions finished last year 31st in scoring defense and 29th in yards allowed. That being said, the Lions went 6-2 against the spread last season as a home underdog.

Ultimately, we can’t trust this Lions team until they prove they belong.
