  • The Detroit Lions visit the San Francisco 49er on Monday Night Football in Week 17
  • The Niners are playing out the string on a disappointing season, while the Detroit Lions
  • Below, see a three-leg, +110 Lions vs 49ers same-game parlay for Dec. 30

The only NFL team that’s perfect on the road this season, the Detroit Lions (13-2, 7-0 away, 10-5 ATS) visit the San Francisco 49ers (6-9, 4-4 home, 5-10 ATS) on Monday Night Football in Week 17. On the surface, Detroit needs a victory to keep pace with Minnesota for the top-seed and lone bye in the NFC. But in practice, as long as Detroit beats Minnesota at home in Week 18, they’ll claim the #1 spot. With that framework in mind, my Lions vs 49ers same-game parlay focuses on three skill-position players from the Niners, whom I expect to have a big day against a softened-up Detroit secondary.

Lions vs 49ers Same-Game Parlay

Pick Odds
Brock Purdy 275+ Passing Yards +136
George Kittel 60+ Receiving Yards -154
Deebo Samuel 50+ Receiving Yards -106
Total DET vs SF SGP Odds +339

Altogether, the three legs of this ambitious MNF same-game parlay add up to +339 odds, meaning a $100 bet would net a profit of $339 if and only if all three legs a graded as a win. The Lions vs 49ers odds currently favor Detroit by 3.5 on the road.

Lions vs 49ers Same-Game Parlay Pick #1: Brock Purdy 275+ Passing Yards

This has been a very up-and-down season for the Niners pivot. He’s averaging a solid 249.1 yards per game through the air, but he’s tossed just 17 TD passes to ten interceptions and has a passer rating of 94.4, down from a superb 113.0 last season.

He’s still had plenty of prolific games, though, including a 313 yard, two-touchdown performance last week against the Miami Dolphins. In  Week 14, he lit up the Bears for 325 yards and two more majors. But in the intervening Week 15, he threw for just 142 yards, no touchdowns, and one pick in an ugly 12-6 loss to the division-rival Rams.

So which Purdy will we see on Monday night in the Bay Area? Given how susceptible Detroit’s banged-up secondary has looked of late, I expect Purdy to have plenty of success through the air. The Lions conceded 323 passing yards to rookie Caleb Williams and the Bears last week, which came two weeks after giving up 362 passing yards (and 599 total yards) to the Bills.

Detroit vs San Francisco SGP Pick #2: George Kittel 60+ Receiving Yards

The 49ers hyper-talented tight end is on pace for his second straight thousand-yard season with 967 yards in just 13 games played (74.4 YPG). He’s been especially good in the second half of the season, with three hundred-yard games in his last seven. In Week 16, he had a game-high 106 receiving yards against Miami.

The Lions have been good against tight ends this season, allowing just 721 total yards to TEs through 15 games (48.1 YPG) but Kittle is no ordinary tight end, and the Detroit defense has steadily lost more and more pieces as the seasons has gone on. Twelve different Detroit defenders are on IR heading into Week 17, including seven four linebackers and three corners.

Lions vs 49ers Same-Game Parlay Pick #3: Deebo Samuel 50+ Receiving Yards

The Niners WR1 (in theory), Samuel is having a terrible season by his lofty standards. Deebo has just 665 yards through 14 games, an average of 47.5 per game. Last time out, though, he showed signs of life, finally ending a run of five straight games with 22 yards or fewer by hanging 96 on the Phins.

With Christian McCaffrey out, the Niners haven’t had their usual ground game this year, and I don’t expect a heavy load for Isaac Guerendo on MNF. That should mean plenty of targets to go around for both Samuel and Kittle.
