One of the NFL’s oldest rivalries will be rekindled in a regular season-ending clash on Sunday Night Football with serious playoff implications, as the Green Bay Packers play host to the Detroit Lions in NFL Week 18 action. Read on for an analysis of Lions vs Packers.
The Packers can claim the seventh and final seed in the NFC with a victory. The Lions also enter Sunday night’s season finale in reach of the seventh seed. However, Detroit needs a win over the Packers and a loss by Seattle in their date with Los Angeles earlier in the day to nail down their first playoff berth since 2016.

Lions vs Packers Recent History
Sunday night’s matchup marks the second and final regular-season meeting between these long-time divisional rivals. The Lions eked out a narrow 15-9 win when they hosted Green Bay in Week 9, sparking the team’s current 7-2 SU run.
Detroit has now won two straight against the Packers, snapping a five-game losing streak in head-to-head action. At least one of these teams has piled up 30 or more points in four of their past five clashes, generating winnings for O VER bettors on three occasions over that stretch.
Detroit Lions Betting Outlook
The Lions rebounded from a crushing loss two weeks ago with an offensive explosion in last week’s home date with Chicago, rolling to an impressive 41-10 victory over the Bears.
But while the Lions enter Week 18 sitting dead even with Green Bay and Seattle in the race for the final playoff spot in the NFC, a Seahawks win over the Rams would end their playoff hopes, creating questions as to how sports bettors should approach this contest.
The regular season ends Sunday Night with the Lions visiting Lambeau Field.
If the Rams beat Seattle, and the Lions win– Detroit goes to the playoffs
If the Packers win– they're in.
The Lions have gone from a laughingstock to the hottest and most likable team in the NFL.

A lack of control over playoff destiny is not the only battle that Detroit faces. It has also been over five years since the Lions won a road game in primetime, and four years since they claimed a win in the Frozen Tundra at Lambeau.
That said, the Lions should not be discounted too quickly. The squad has consistently defied the oddsmakers during their 7-2 SU run, with three of those wins coming as road underdogs. And in addition to a revitalized offense led by quarterback Jared Goff that has scored over 30 points five times during their surge, the Lions have also tightened up on defense.
Apart from their crushing loss to the Panthers two weeks ago, the Lions have allowed just 18.6 points per game over the other eight dates on their 7-2 tear.
Green Bay Packers Betting Outlook
Left for dead a month ago by NFL betting fans, the Packers have resurrected their playoff hopes with four straight SU and ATS wins, capped by last weekend’s demolition of the NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings.
Aaron Rodgers’ steady return to health after enduring an injury-plagued campaign has been crucial to this team’s turnaround, with the veteran pivot connecting on seven scoring passes over his past four home dates.
Whether the #Packers get into the playoffs as the 7th seed or not – Sunday will be the final home game this season for Green Bay.
Yesterday, Aaron Rodgers was asked if he lets the thought of it potentially being his last game played at Lambeau Field cross his mind.

However, it has been the Green Bay ground game that has really excelled of late. Aaron Jones ran for over 111 rushing yards, which lifted him over the century mark for the fifth time this season.
With seven scoring runs over the past four weeks, the Packers’ ground game is peaking at the right time. That will be bad news for the Lions, who have surrendered a hefty 520 total rushing yards over the past two weeks.
Lions vs Packers Prediction
While the Packers hold a clear edge playing under the lights at Lambeau Field, whether this game will be meaningful to the Lions come kick-off time is uncertain. Accordingly, NFL betting fans may wish to wait until closer to game time to get their final bets in on what promises to be a high-scoring affair.
