PJ Walker and the Carolina Panthers (4-5) are roaring into the desert for a date with the Arizona Cardinals (8-1) this Sunday. Kickoff from State Farm Stadium is scheduled for 4:05 pm ET on FOX. Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma will be on the call from the booth.
The Panthers are coming into this one after a 24-6 beating at the hands of the New England Patriots in Week 9. Â Carolina lost more than the game as starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, is down for at least a few weeks to a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, the Cardinals manhandled the San Francisco 49ers 31-17 without the services of their starting quarterback, Kyler Murray.
At the moment the Cardinals are 10.5-point favorites and that’s with Murray as a game-time decision. In terms of the total, it is sitting at 44.5 at the moment but could move higher if Kyler Murray is available. As always, there are player props all over the place and that’s what we’ll talk about here.
As of Saturday, Kyler Murray is still a game-time decision so player props on the Cardinals side will likely not be released. Props on the Panthers side are also limited due to PJ Walker starting at quarterback.

Christian McCaffrey is Back
Even in a game where there are so few player props available, we still can find something to bet. I love a good running back receiving prop and we hit the jackpot with this one. It’s because Christian McCaffrey was hurt and missed a few games so I can see why the books have his receiving yards prop so low.
Still, at the end of the day, we’re talking about Christian McCaffrey here.

We haven’t seen much of McCaffrey lately but trust me, this guy is still dangerous. Lethal even. Illegal in some states. The Panthers “eased him in” last week and only played him on 49% of the snaps. That still translated to 14 carries for 52 yards and four receptions for 54 yards. Don’t let this guy fool you, he’s back.
The Panthers lost Sam Darnold last week but in my opinion, that’s a good thing for them as a team. They are starting PJ Walker this week and if we’re being honest, that could be a good thing for McCaffrey’s outlook. It’s hard to imagine Walker’s eyes going very far downfield much in this game. We could see the Christian McCaffrey show.
For all the good the Cardinals’ defense has done this season, running backs have still found ways to operate in the pass game. On the season, only seven teams have given up more receptions to the position than Arizona. I think the Panthers get down in this game and have to throw to get back in. If that happens, McCaffrey should go over 39.5 receiving yards like he’s done in every other start this season that he didn’t leave early.

Who Scores?
As always, we just have to have a touchdown scorer prop. It’s what gamblers do. They gamble. Generally it’s a bad idea to chase a guy that had a big week the week before. You’d have to think teams are aware of a guy who just scored three touchdowns in the previous game.
I don’t care about that with this one. We’re talking James Conner here.

James Conner should feast in the absence of Chase Edmonds. That goes without saying. He’s already sixth in the NFL in red zone carries and now he will have Edmond’s work on top of that.
If and when the Cardinals get inside the five-yard line, watch out. Conner has had eight carries on the season from that range and he’s converted seven of them into touchdowns. I like him to score again this week even at the elevated price.

- SBD 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 14-19, +0.355 units
