- Country superstar Mickey Guyton is the latest big-name artist to be added to the star-studded roster performing at the Super Bowl
- Guyton will perform the national anthem, and oddsmakers have set the over/under on her performance at 95.5 seconds.
- Read below for analysis on whether or not Guyton’s performance is likely to go over or under the projected time
Add Grammy-nominated country superstar Mikey Guyon to the list of amazing musical acts for this year’s Super Bowl. Guyton joins an incredible cast that includes Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dog, Mary J Blige, Kendrick Lamar and others, and has been tasked with singing the national anthem.
Recent renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner have lasted longer than drives in the actual game, but oddsmakers are expecting a much faster version this year from Guyton.

The over/under currently projected for Guyton’s version is just 95.5 seconds (1:35.5) from the first word sung to the last note sung. That’s by far the shortest total in recent memory. Each of the past nine artists have had an over/under line of at least 1:47 according to the historical Super Bowl anthem lengths.
However, there’s a good reason for Guyton’s short projected time ahead of the Rams vs Bengals matchup, as we’ll dive into below.
Mickey Guyton’s Anthem History
First things first though, a little background on Guyton. A few years ago she mentioned in an interview how she was inspired to become a country singer by seeing a 10-year-old LeAnn Rimes perform the national anthem at a Texas Rangers game.
She signed her first major record deal 11 years ago, and over the past six years she’s sung the Star-Spangled Banner at numerous marquee events.

Each of her most recent renditions have come in well under 95.5 seconds, including her performance last year at the 2021 National Memorial Day Concert. That day, she absolutely flew through the anthem, clocking in around 84 seconds from start to finish.

Of course on the biggest stage of her career, she’s bound to hold the key notes a little bit longer. If you watch the video above closely, she offers hardly any dramatic flare throughout the performance. That’s something that we probably shouldn’t bank on at the Super Bowl.
Recent Super Bowl Anthem Trends
Looking at the past 10 national anthem performances at the Super Bowl, we don’t see any clear trends. The over has hit in two of the past three years, but the over is just 4-4-2 since Super Bowl 45.
Last 10 Super Bowl National Anthem Lengths
Super Bowl | Performer | Anthem O/U | Anthem Length | O/U |
---|---|---|---|---|
55 | Jazmine Sullivan & Eric Church | 1:59 | 2:16 | Over |
54 | Demi Lovato | 1:55 | 1:49 | Under |
53 | Gladys Knight | 1:47 | 2:01 | Over |
52 | Pink | 2:00 | 1:52 | Under |
51 | Luke Bryan | 2:09 | 2:04 | Under |
50 | Lady Gaga | 2:22 | 2:22 | Push |
49 | Idina Menzel | 2:02 | 2:04 | Over |
48 | Renee Fleming | 2:23 | 2:03 | Under |
47 | Alicia Keys | 2:15 | 2:36 | Over |
46 | Kelly Clarkson | 1:34 | 1:34 | Push |
Since Super Bowl 24, only Vanessa Williams, Jewel, The Chicks, Billy Joel, and Kelly Clarkson have failed to eclipse the 95 second mark. Last year, Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church’s rendition lasted two minutes and 16 seconds, the longest since Lady Gaga’s two minute and 22 second performance at Super Bowl 50.
One trend that is worth mentioning is the fact that the average national anthem performance has gotten longer in each of the past few decades.
In the 90’s, only Harry Connick Jr. and Natalie Cole’s performances eclipsed the two minute mark. In the 2000’s, Faith Hill, Beyonce, Aaron Neville and Aretha Franklin, as well as Jennifer Hudson, all exceeded two minutes. In the 2010’s, Alicia Keys, Renee Fleming, Idina Menzel, Lady Gaga, Luke Bryan, and Pink all lasted at least two minutes.
Super Bowl 56 National Anthem Best Bet
Year after year, betting on the length of the national anthem at the Super Bowl is one of the most popular prop bets. You can’t get as much action down on it as you can betting one of the teams or the total in the Super Bowl odds, but it’s a fun sweat and it’s an easy wager for even the most novice sports bettor to make.

As far as Guyton’s performance this year is concerned, everyone is going to assume a short performance based solely on her previous renditions. However, she’ll never perform on a bigger stage and this is the perfect opportunity to show the entire world just how powerful her voice is.
I’m betting she holds the key notes much longer than in her previous performances, and delivers a much more dramatic version of the Star Spangled Banner this time around. If she does, she’ll fly over 95.5 seconds.
Pick: Mickey Guyton Over 95.5 seconds
