- Baker Mayfield was so distraught after the Browns’ latest loss, he shaved his mustache
- At 2-6, Cleveland has to beat the Buffalo Bills to keep their dim playoff hopes alive
- If the Browns lose, could Baker’s facial hair go the way of Cleveland’s season?
Poor Baker Mayfield. He had it all, didn’t he?
A hot-shot college recruit turned first overall pick. He used that success to propel the Cleveland Browns to the cusp of the playoffs. A herculean feat.
And with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr in the off-season? We thought nothing could stop Baker Mayfield.
We were wrong.
And little did we know that Mayfield has a devastating condition where he expresses his frustrations through his facial hair.
Wait what?
**Checks notes**
Nope. It’s true. All of it.

That poor Fu Manchu barely got to see the world.
Oh well. Now we can bet on what happens to Baker’s face following Week 10!

There is a very simple solution to this, as it relates directly back to the vanity of professional athletes and their superstitions.
If the Browns beat the Bills, Baker Mayfield isn’t shaving. If they lose? Well…

I mean Egghead has a mustache, but the point is it could cost Baker everything.
Personally? I see an angry Browns team coming out and getting their third win after getting embarrassed on the road. But these two have to sort out their differences:

If you think Sunday is in the bag for the Bills? Well, that ‘will Baker shave?’ prop seems like easy money.
In short: If you’re betting Baker to win, throw some cash on the ‘stache. If you think he loses? It’ll be long gone.

First of all, let’s take a minute to appreciate some of the finer tweets that came from sad-mustache-having, trench-coat-wearing Baker Mayfield.

Unfortunately, he’s not three days away from retirement. Nor is he more fun than Gardner Minshew.

Also…give it up for South Park:

We wanted to take a moment to appreciate the cookie duster because, well, who knows if it’ll be there come Sunday?
My gut instinct tells me it will. You don’t make a statement like that after a loss and show up clean-shaven the next week.
But there’s a wild card we have to consider here. Hair growth.
There are adults in this world that shave two, maybe three times a year. Then there are people like me that have a 5 o’clock shadow by noon. Is that too much information? You bet it is! But it’s something we have to consider.

‘Full beard’ seems a touch up to interpretation, but it’s likely a good idea to hedge in that direction just in case. If it’s a bunch of cleanly shaven folk running the books, they may have angst towards stubble.
But we’re leaning the way of the mustache on this one. We expect it to be there for kickoff on Sunday, and we expect to see it gracing the podium afterward.
The Pick: Mustache Only (-120)
