It isn’t exactly the most anticipated Red River Showdown, but Texas and Oklahoma traditionally put on a show.
Since 2016, the two teams have combined to score better than 53 points in every game. In four of the seven games, both teams topped the 40-point plateau.
It’s a little different this year, as OU starting pivot Dillon Gabriel is likely out after suffering a concussion in last week’s loss to TCU.
That hasn’t only affected the line, which has the Sooners as heavy underdogs, but it’s taken a bunch of skill players off the board when looking at player props.
It’s not exactly rosy for Texas, either, as Quinn Ewers hasn’t played since Week 2, and is still a question mark.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t great bets to make — let’s run down our favorite picks for this matchup that kicks off at 12pm ET Saturday (October 8) at the Cotton Bowl, in Dallas, Texas.

Prop #1: Bijan Robinson Rushing Yards
The Longhorns’ workhorse has been putting in work after a slowish start to the season.
After failing to crack the 100-yard plateau in each of his first two games, Robinson has crossed the century mark in three straight contests, including last week’s win vs West Virginia.
Robinson carried 21 times for 101 yards and a score.
He also has a signature run in this series from last year, part of a 20-carry, 137 yard, 1-TD performance.

He’s going against an Oklahoma run defense that has been absolutely shredded the last two weeks. OU surrendered 275 yards in a 41-34 loss to Kansas State. Last week, TCU lit them on fire for 361 yards on 41 totes.
On the year, the Sooners’ run defense ranks a dismal 119th of 131 in the NCAA.
Double up on this with a Robinson score too — he’s found paydirt in every game this season.
Pick:
- Robinson OVER 104.5 rushing yards (-130); 1 unit to win 0.77 units
- Robinson OVER 0.5 touchdowns (-225); 1 unit to win 0.44 units
Prop #2: Xavier Worthy Receiving Touchdowns
Xavier Worthy is coming off his best game of the season, hauling in seven balls for 119 yards and two TD’s. He’s now gone back-to-back games with a TD, after failing to find the endzone in the first three games of the season.
An uncertain quarterback situation may give you some pause, but whether it’s Quinn Ewers or Hudson Card. the level of QB play isn’t that far of a dropoff.

Worthy has only ever faced the Sooners once, and it was a career afternoon. He hauled in nine balls for 261 yards and two touchdowns, in a 55-48 loss.
While this doesn’t appear to be headed to the same sort of shootout, Worthy is on a nice streak, and at plus odds, is definitely worth taking a flier on.
- Pick: Worthy OVER 0.5 yards touchdowns (+110); 1 units to win 1.1 units
