A tale of two offensive styles will clash in Week 2 of the college football season, when the Texas A&M Aggies (1-0) visit the Miami Hurricanes (1-0).
The 23rd-ranked Aggies slung it all over the field in a 52-10 thrashing of New Mexico in Week 1. Miami, meanwhile, ground the Miami-Ohio Redhawks to a pulp in a 38-3 thrashing.
Both schools seem far removed from the teams they were a year ago, when A&M outlasted the ‘Canes in a 17-9 slugfest.
Action gets underway Saturday (Sept 9) at 3:30pm ET from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL. You can watch the game live on ABC.

Weigman Goes Wild in Week 1
It’s likely that no one is more excited than Conner Weigman about Bobby Petrino taking over as the Aggies offensive coordinator.
The gameplan installed by the former head coach at Louisvile, Arkansas and in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons worked wonders for the 2nd-year pivot, as he threw for 236 yards and five touchdowns in the blowout of the Lobos.

A&M found paydirt on each of their first five possessions, with four of them coming via the pass.
When the dust settled, stud receiver Evan Stewart had eight grabs for 115 yards and a pair of scores, while 6-foot-6 sophomore Noah Thomas caught six balls for 74 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, they held the Lobos to 91 yards rushing on 32 carries, a light 2.8-yard-per-carry clip. They held QB Dylan Hopkins to 115 yards and an INT while sacking him twice — part of 10 tackles for loss by the Aggie defense.
‘Canes Cruise Over Miami-Ohio
Tyler Van Dyke may have struck with a TD pass on his very first pass of the year, but it was Miami’s ground game that proved to be the difference maker in their season-opening thumping of Miami-Ohio.
Miami ran for 250 yards on 36 totes, a healthy 6.9-yard average to overwhelm the opposition. Four running backs had at least eight carries, and all of them looked good doing it.
Henry Parrish Jr led the way with nine carries for 90 yards and a score, while Mark Fletcher Jr also rushed nine times for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Donald Chaney Jr had eight carries for 38 yards and a TD, while Ajay Allen picked up 47 yards on nine carries.
Colbie Young was Miami’s leading receiver, catching four passes for 79 yards and a major.
Defensively, they sacked Brett Gabbert twice and limited him to just 12-for-21 passing for 127 yards, while holding the Redhawks to 51 yards rushing on 25 carries.

Texas A&M vs Miami Prediction
This is the only ranked opponent on the slate for the Hurricanes through their first five weeks of the season, and a win Saturday likely vaults them into the Top 25.
The Aggies’ sched is light through the first five but things get a lot tougher down the home stretch, with ranked SEC teams Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU dotting the schedule in their final seven games.
Aggies vs Hurricanes Week 1 Leaders
C. Weigman: 18-23, 236 yds, 5 TD | Passing | T. Van Dyke: 17-22, 201 yds, TD, INT |
A. Daniels: 7 rush, 51 yards | Rushing | H. Parrish Jr: 9 rush, 90 yds, TD |
E. Stewart: 8 rec, 115 yds, 2 TD | Receiving | C. Young: 4 rec, 79 yds, TD |
N. Thomas: 6 rec, 74 yds, 3 TD | Notable | M. Fletcher Jr: 9 rush, 76 yds, TD |
If Miami is able to get the ground game going, they can control clock — they enjoyed a time of possession advantage better than five minutes against the Redhawks.
That might not be a factor, though: Texas lost the time of possession battle in their Week 1 win by a similar amount and romped, a testament to their quick-strike offense.
The Hurricanes do boast a dynamite safety tandem of James Williams and Kamren Kinchens, and they could at least provide some resistance to the Aggies’ high-powered receiving duo of Stewart and Thomas.
While offense reigned supreme in Week 1, look for these teams to score, but not at that easy a clip in Week 2.
