Jalen Milroe RushingYards

Among all the star quarterbacks taking the field in Week 1, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe stands out in the CFB player props. This is Kalen DeBoer’s first game coaching the Crimson Tide, and I expect the players to put on a show in the opener.

Although Alabama is favored by 42 points against Western Kentucky, DeBoer has a track record of leaving his starters in blowouts longer than you might expect. This is particularly relevant for the opener, as DeBoer wants his players to get as many reps as possible in the new system.

Milroe is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback who can make plays with both his arm and his legs. Last season, he rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns, showcasing his ability to extend plays and pick up crucial yardage on the ground.

Western Kentucky finished second-to-last in all of college football last year when it came to yardage allowed against QBs (684 yards). They gave up 100-plus yards to the opposing QB four different times, and I expect Milroe to execute some strategically designed run plays to easily surpass his total.

  • Props Picks: Jalen Milroe 40+ Rushing Yards (-115 at DK)

Xavier Restrepo Receiving Yards

Another addition to my Week 1 college football player props is Xavier Restrepo’s Over on receiving yards. I’m backing Miami against the spread in my CFB ATS picks, as well as in my CFB Week 1 parlay. It’s only fitting that I target their top receiver in the props market.

Restrepo is coming off a record-breaking 2023 campaign where he caught 85 passes for 1,092 yards and six touchdowns. He topped 100 receiving yards in five games and closed the season with an impressive stretch of 25 catches for 409 yards and two scores over the final three contests.

The Hurricanes significantly upgraded their quarterback situation by adding Cam Ward, a Heisman candidate, from the transfer portal. Ward threw for 3,732 yards and 25 touchdowns at Washington State last year while completing 66.7% of his passes.

With a more accurate and dynamic passer under center, Restrepo should have more opportunities to make plays downfield and in the red zone. Tyler Van Dyke’s inconsistency held back the passing game at times in 2023, but Ward’s arrival raises the ceiling for Restrepo and the entire offense.

Florida’s pass defense was vulnerable in 2023, allowing 7.7 yards per attempt and 226.7 passing yards per game. The Gators also lost several key contributors from that unit, which could lead to some early-season growing pains.

Given his pedigree as one of the nation’s top wideouts, the addition of a potential star quarterback, and a juicy matchup in Week 1, Restrepo has all the ingredients to torch Florida’s defense for a big game. Don’t be surprised if he racks up 100+ yards on Saturday.

  • Props Picks: Xavier Restrepo OVER 74.5 Receiving Yards (-110 at FD)
