Five teams are tied with the highest win total of 10.5 this year – Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas. On the other end of the spectrum, Arizona State and Wake Forest have win totals of just 4.5, the lowest on the board.

Cowboys Are Big 12 Sleeper
One team we’re taking a fancy to in the college football win totals is the Oklahoma State Cowboys. OSU’s win total for 2024 is listed at only eight games despite the team returning a veteran-laden roster.
The Cowboys bring back a whopping 11 starters from last year’s 10-4 team, headlined by seventh-year quarterback Alan Bowman. Alongside Bowman, explosive running back Ollie Gordon II returns to give the offense a dynamic one-two punch.

Head coach Mike Gundy’s steady hand at the helm cannot be understated. Gundy has consistently developed talent and implemented an effective game plan, positioning the Cowboys as a dangerous contender each season.
While the Big 12’s expansion to 16 teams presents new challenges, it also opens up opportunities for Oklahoma State. The departure of Texas and Oklahoma, along with the addition of former Pac-12 schools, creates a more level playing field.

It’s always tough to fade a true college football powerhouse, but that’s often where the best betting value lies. The Georgia Bulldogs have been the class of college football in recent years, but their lofty 10.5 win total for the 2024 season is ripe for an ‘under’ bet.
Georgia’s path to 11 wins is littered with landmines, as the Bulldogs face one of the nation’s toughest slates in 2024. Kirby Smart’s squad will have to run the gauntlet against five preseason top-25 opponents, including road trips to Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss – all top-6 programs.

As the projected preseason No. 1 team and current CFB national title odds favorite, Georgia will have a massive target on its back. Every opponent will circle the Bulldogs on their calendar, bringing their A-game in hopes of a season-defining upset.
While Georgia’s roster is stacked with talent, there are a few potential weaknesses that could be exploited. The Bulldogs’ pass rush was outside the top 20 in 2023, and with the unit remaining mostly intact, they’ll need players like Mykel Williams to step up.
The departure of Brock Bowers to the NFL is a major blow, as the team is lacking elite wide receivers for Carson Beck to throw to. With SEC conference competition at an all-time high, we’ll take the plus-money on UGA to finish under 10.5 wins in 2024.

Hawkeyes are Consistently Consistent
Iowa’s offense was the laughingstock of college football in 2023, but Kirk Ferentz’s team still finished 10-4 and made it to the Big 10 Championship Game. The Hawkeyes are somewhat flying under the radar heading into the 2024 season, but savvy bettors should take a hard look at the ‘over’ on their 8-win total.
Iowa’s calling card under head coach Kirk Ferentz has been a suffocating defense, and that trend shows no signs of slowing down in 2024. The Hawkeyes have finished in the top 10 nationally in points allowed per play in each of the past four seasons, and they return a wealth of talent on that side of the ball.
The Hawkeyes also have a manageable schedule, with Ohio State being the only truly daunting opponent. Road trips to Minnesota, Michigan State, Maryland, and UCLA are winnable.

Offensively, if quarterback Cade McNamara stays healthy and performs at a level similar to his 2021 season at Michigan (2,576 yards, 15 TDs, 6 INTs), Iowa’s offense should improve enough to complement their elite defense.
Iowa has been a model of consistency under Ferentz, winning at least eight games in four of the past five full seasons. The only exceptions being the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign and a 7-5 regular season in 2022.
With a dominant defense, a new offensive coordinator, and a manageable schedule, Iowa has all the ingredients to exceed its college football win total once again in 2024.
