Two struggling and undermanned teams clash Tuesday when the Phoenix Suns (35-40, 12-25 away) visit the Milwaukee Bucks (40-34, 23-14 home). Phoenix has lost three in a row and won’t have the services of star Kevin Durant, while the Milwaukee has lost four straight, and don’t have the services of Dame Lillard (clot) indefinitely. Still, the books have them as the favorite in the NBA odds. Action gets underway from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee beginning at 7:30pm ET, with TNT carrying the broadcast.

Durant (ankle) had to be helped off the court in the third quarter in the Suns’ last game, a blowout loss to the Houston Rockets. While one of Phoenix’s Big 3 down, Bradley Beal (hamstring) is listed as questionable against Milwaukee.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (foot) is at his usual spot on the injured list, but he’s probable for Tuesday, as is guard AJ green (shoulder). There’s still no timeline for return for Lillard (calf) who will miss his seventh straight game since being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right calf.

Not surprising that Giannis has the highest scoring total of any player at 30.5 points. The #2 scorer in the NBA has gone for at least 30 points in the last four games. Perhaps though, the most enticing prop for Antetokounmpo is his 3-point prop, getting +300 odds to nail one triple.

He’s removed that part of his game almost entirely in March, hitting just one triple in 12 total attempts, going seven games without even hoisting from beyond the arc. Maybe a new month reignites it? It’s just one 3-pointer!

For the Suns, Devin Booker will be Phoenix’s everything against Milwaukee, with his scoring line set to 26.5 points. Book scored 28 against Houston last time out, breaking a skid where he went four straight going sub-20 scoring.

Phoenix Suns vs Milwaukee Bucks Picks

  • Suns vs Bucks pick: Bucks -7 (-110)
  • Suns vs Bucks prop bet: Antetokounmpo Over 0.5 3-point makes (+300)

Only a weak Eastern Conference has Bucks sitting comfortably, even after they dropped their fourth straight, a 145-124 whipping at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks.

Even with that loss, Milwaukee still sits four games ahead of the Hawks, so there’s little danger in the Bucks falling out of the Top 6.

That said, they’ll need to change their fortunes, and especially on the defensive end, where they have surrendered an average of 124 points per game during their slide, as teams are shooting 51% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point range.

The Bucks are also just 2-4 without Lillard, and someone else is going to have to help Antetokounmpo. He’s played in three of the four losses, and led the team in scoring, rebounds and assists in each, with nary a W to show for it.

I wouldn’t even consider the Suns a soft landing spot either, as Phoenix is one of the teams that have beaten the Bucks on their current slide, a 108-106 win on March 24.

However, losing Durant definitely stings, as the Suns have already fallen out of the Top 10 in the West, losing their play-in spot to the Kings.

It doesn’t help that they struggle against the better teams, going 12-25 against teams with a winning record this season.

The gap couldn’t be clearer than their current losing streak, where they lost by at least 24 points to the Celtics, Timberwolves and the Rockets, who thrashed them 148-109 last game.

Milwuakee has dominated this head-to-head, winning seven of the last 10 matchups, while going 7-2-1 against the spread.

The deflating Durant injury will show, as his scoring probably covers up more issues than the team already shows.
