  • The Golden State Warriors can take a commanding 3-1 series lead in Game 4 at home on Monday night against the Houston Rockets

The Golden State Warriors (48-34, 24-17 home, 41-39-3 ATS) have a golden opportunity to put the Houston Rockets (52-30, 23-17 away, 43-39-1 ATS) on the brink of elimination tonight when the teams meet in Game 4 at the Chase Center in San Francisco at 7:10 pm ET/10:10 pm ET.

Houston caught a break when Jimmy Butler missed Game 3 with a pelvic injury suffered early in Game 2. But Houston couldn’t hold onto a double-digit lead they’d built by late in the first half, getting outscored 35-22 in the fourth quarter of a 104-93 setback to the shorthanded Warriors. Oddsmakers were evidently encouraged by what they saw from the Butler-less Warriors last time out and have set Golden State as a 4.0-point home favorite in Monday’s NBA odds, up from -2.0 in Game 3.

Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors Prediction & Picks

  • Steph Curry over 26.5 points (-125) at DraftKings
  • Jalen Green under 18.5 points (-115) at bet365

The last time fans saw Steph Curry (24.5 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 6.0 APG) in the postseason, the then-35-year-old averaged a career-best 30.5 PPG over 13 games during the 2023 playoffs. Now 37, he’s proving that was no fluke, lighting up the defense-first Rockets for 29.0 PPG through the first three games of the series.

With Butler injured in Game 3, Curry put his team on his back, dropping 36 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in an arduous 41 minutes. If Butler plays on Monday night, it’s unlikely Steph will take another 23 shots. But don’t expect his usage to drop too much. Butler will likely be less than 100% if he’s in the lineup and deferring to “Batman” more than usual.

It’s been feast or famine for Jalen Green (21.0 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 3.4 APG), who’s been borderline invisible in Houston’s pair of losses (seven points on 3-of-15 shooting in Game 1; nine points on 4-of-11 shooting in Game 3) but lit up the Dubs for 38 points on 13-of-25 shooting in the Rockets’ Game 2 victory.

Golden State currently has the second-best D-Rating in the playoffs (103.6) after finishing the regular season in seventh (111.0).

HOU vs GSW Injury Reports

The good news for Golden State – in addition to Butler being upgraded to questionable for Game 4 – is that Jimmy is the only player currently on the Warriors’ injury report.

The Rockets, similarly, are in good shape injury-wise. Jack Landale (4.8 PPG, 3.3 RPG in 11.9 MPG) has been upgraded to probable. The 6’11 center hasn’t played since April 13. Jae’Sean Tate (3.6 PPG, 2.8 RPG in 11.3 MPG) remains out with an ankle injury. Tate hasn’t played since April 9.

No other players are listed on Houston’s injury report for Game 4.

With Butler’s status in doubt and the Rockets’ offense generally sputtering, Curry is the only player with a point total over 20 in Game 4. Sengun, who was at 20.5 in the first three games of the series, has been dropped to 19.5 after scoring just 17 in Game 2 and 15 in Game 3. The 6’11 center had a team-high 26 in Game 1.

Sengun’s rebound total remains a game-high 10.5. As his scoring has dipped the last two games, his performance on the glass was waxed (16 in Game 2, 11 in Game 3).
