Given how the first three games have unfolded, it’s hard to imagine the Oklahoma City Thunder not sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA playoff bracket. Online sportsbooks are certainly expecting OKC to close out Memphis on Saturday, as they have pegged the Thunder as massive Game 4 road chalk. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:40pm ET inside FedExForum, in Memphis, TN, with TNT providing the broadcast coverage.

OKC Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies Picks

  • Memphis Grizzlies Under 104.5 Points (-110 at FanDuel)

My pick for Game 4 is that the Grizzlies underwhelm offensively again. For starters, there’s serious questions about Ja Morant’s availability. Memphis’ leading scorer left Game 3 late in the first half after a hard foul by Luguentz Dort.

At the time of his departure, the Grizzlies were leading by 27 points. They extended the lead to 29 on the next possession, but then the wheels fell off. Memphis scored just 31 points in the second half, and didn’t record a point in the final 4:51 of the contests. That allowed the Thunder to orchestrate an incredible rally, en route to a 3-0 series stranglehold.

Morant was on crutches after Game 3, and his status for Saturday is in serious doubt. He’s currently listed as a game-time decision, but online sportsbooks are keeping him off their player props menu.

The opening half of Game 3 was the first time Memphis showed any life against the NBA Championship odds favorites. The moment Morant left, they turned into a pumpkin, and I’m not convinced they can get to 100 points in Game 4 if Morant is out or operating at less than 100 percent.

OKC was the best defensive team in the regular season, and they’ve replicated that performance in the postseason. They own the top defensive rating at 92.9, averaging 10 steals and 7 blocks per outing. They’ve held the Grizzlies to 40% shooting from the field, and 28% from three.

Thunder vs Grizzlies Player Props to Bet: Scottie Pippen Jr. Under 5.5 Assists (-120 at DraftKing)

If we expect the Grizzlies to struggle offensively, we need to be fading some of their starters in the player props market. Scottie Pippen Jr. is being priced as if Morant isn’t going to play. That’s great for us, since it gives us multiple outs. If Morant plays, this 5.5 assists prop line for Pippen Jr. is insane. He doesn’t get the usage needed clear this prop, since Morant dominates the ball.

If Morant doesn’t play, that means more attention on Pippen Jr. from OKC’s elite defenders. They can certainly keep him under 6 assists, as he hasn’t reached that mark in a game since late March.

The Thunder have four players ranked in the top-20 in defensive win shares. They’re long and athletic at every position and give opposing ball handlers fits. The Thunder rank top-four in assists allowed, and surrender the eighth fewest dimes to enemy guards.
